Default Alizée Resturant, Baltimore

Got this in my Google alerts today:

http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertai...,6064105.story

It's a Baltimore Sun review of a re-opened hotel restaurant now called "Alizee". Interesting enough, but here's the thing: it's the closest hotel to where I went to school, and where my parents would stay every time they visited. I must have eaten in the previous incarnations of that restaurant dozens of times.

Dunno if anyone cares, but I find that just too strange!

Also this review kinda reads like a bad mad-lib for us: "One of Alizee's obstacles is its obligation to serve as a hotel amenity, seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner." Oh the jokes if only I was still there... "I'm staying in a hotel with Alizee!", etc...

This is awesome, Ben, good find!

Does anyone else find the following an eerie parallel to the last few months in the world of the REAL Alizée?:

"There's a vaporous sound to that name, Alizee... There were moments when I started to feel confident everything would eventually come together, but others when I wondered...Alizee will only ultimately work when diners aren't left wondering...Also distracting, more importantly, is table service that is well-intentioned but continually off the beat....there were flashes of brilliance, and many moments of satisfaction, but there were some misfires, too."

To me, that describes the current climate in the forums brought about by the concert cancellations: there have been high points and low points over the last few months, and the uncertainty has left many "diners" (fans) in a state of indifference and depression. BUT, with the new album coming out, it looks as though things are picking up again . I'm sure that soon, the forums will be back up to speed, and Alizée will leave us hungry for more ().

Default In Baltimore? Now you can go eat at Alizée

http://www.citypaper.com/eat/review.asp?rid=14827
For those in Baltimore, MD, you can now go eat at Alizée. I wonder where the proprietor got the idea to name it that.
Doh! Of course I didn't check to see if this was already up. Why didn't I see that when it came around for Ben?
and yeah, Mavs, that's kind of eerie.

It did seem like things slowed down quite a bit in here, but now just in the past couple of weeks, it seems like they're picking up again. I think with the rumors of a possible September release for her new album (even though I don't think that's likely at this point) is getting people excited. September isn't that far away. People are chomping at the bit to hear some new songs from her.

More goings on at restaurant Alizée, including another eerily accurate analogy to our Angel (in bold)...

Chef change at Alizée

Christian DeLutis, formerly of The Dogwood, The Wine Market, and other prestigious local restaurants, will be heading to Alizée Boutique Bistro and Wine Bar in the Colonnade as executive chef in mid-August.

In an e-mail, Christian told me diners can expect a “strong charcuterie and cheese program, as well as some modern techniques blended with classic French fare.”

He also wanted everyone to know that he and Dogwood’s chef/owner Galen Sampson are ending on great terms. “We are good friends,” he said. “I wish him continued success.”

With Christian at the helm, maybe Alizée can finally get its act together. The kitchen has been a revolving door with chefs Josh Hill and then Thomas Watts behind the stove.

The restaurant, in the spot once occupied by the wildly successful Polo Grill, deserves a chance to succeed. Three previous restaurants haven’t been so lucky.

I have to credit Patti Neumann’s blog for the initial scoop that Christian was heading to Alizée. Patti, who is founder and CEO of CITYPEEK, always has a wealth of food/restaurant info on her blog. She seems to be everywhere these days. Thanks, Patti.

With Christian at the helm.....maybe Alizée will get a new manager who happens to be a Christian.
