It's tricky. The reason she did English versions before was to try to get English speaking fans. So, if I'm Fed Up was playing in England and the English had not heard JEAM and still liked her, then that was the intent. After getting over the comparison thing and hearing her sing in English the first time (I'm fed up), I really like the way she sings that song. It's unfortunate that the lyrics come off as kind of goofy the first time you hear it. But, I'll tell you, I'd rather that she not sound just like the other American female singers. The question is not whether it's going to turn someone on the brink of being a fan. It's whether it will give her an entrace into a foriegn market. Maybe it did help in Asian countries, oddly enough. I don't know. So, point is, it doesn't really matter if it's just a remake of a song she has already done, but there is the comparison issue like Deep says.
For some reason, I just have a hunch that she's not going to do that. At least, not until she builds back sales and general popularity, including in Anglophone markets. It's kind of a catch 22, I'm afraid. Of course, I have no experience in the biz and that's all just my hunches.

Hmm, just an observation on one specific line translation for Fifty-Sixty. Hopefully I didn't miss this in the 70+ intervening pages, but it's what's still showing up in the translation I saw.

There is a line that says "la pop est en cloque" which is being translated as something like "pop is popped."

The phrase "être en cloque" is, however, a slang term for being pregnant. My dictionaries both use the translation "has a bun in the oven" with a note warning that it can be offensive in the wrong context, while my street French phrasebook translates it more directly as "knocked up." Either way, they agree that the line actually would have the sense of "pop is pregnant" rather than "pop is popped."

Well, you have mistaken in it anyways since it's in past form...

Pop's popularity was still growing at 60s and after it. So it wasn't popped yet but was still popping.

Unless your meaning with popped is something really different from what I understand it...

Anyways... I chose "popping" since it fits to lyrics and it somehow explains the meaning of clogue wich by native French explained to mean that pop is getting better/bigger and better/bigger (like a bun in the oven... or same applied to some random mommy...) .

hmm, i never heard about this? i mean, i was never looking for an "anti-alizee" homepage, so i never thought there was one. it never made much sense to me to devote your time and effort to hating someone and creating a website for it. much like those anti-britney goof-offs. also, how the fuck can anyone hate alizee? ignorant idiots, i say.

Well, usually they are for a joke I guess...

Tho, some are done by kids who are jealous or can't stand that their idol suddenly doesn't get so much time in media (like many of the anti-Alizée stuff was related to Britney).

Maybe the last one that exists:

Blasphemer I say! Alizée has done NOTHING wrong to upset the public other than make beautiful music. She has done nothing wrong to make the public want to make anti-Alizée forums. Maybe it's the fact that she is the definition of perfect. Who said not everyone is perfect. Well she is.

She is a better singer than Britney I say. But that is my opinion.
