RIP Guru

It saddens me to say that one of the legends in the Hip-Hop world, the man with the monotone sound, Guru, of legendary rap group Gang Starr, just passed away Monday night, April 19th, 2010. This is a huge blow to Hip-Hop as Guru, along with fellow Gang Starr member DJ Premier, was considered the pioneer of Jazz-Rap, contributing his efforts to six topnotch Gang Starr albums and his solo series, the Jazzmatazz series, which combined rap lyrics over live jazz.

He will be sorely missed in the Hip-Hop community for his contributions to Hip-Hop, both as an artist and a person. Words cannot describe his impact on this genre.

man like i just re-read the letter again... i dunno what to think about it... but it is a shame that another great lyricist has passed...

Yeah, nobody knows what to think about the letter. Though a lot of people believe Guru didn't truly write it. I'm not sure though.

But yeah, it's a real shame that another great lyricist passed. And he was only 43 too. =\

Was not a fan of his style of rap growing up in those days because I was into the Gangsta rap like N.W.A., Eazy-E, Ice-T. But R.I.P. to Guru.

Man... shame that another great lyricist has passed, and at a relatively young age too. I really enjoyed his stuff. Some hot beats and chill music. I can't imagine where hip-hop and a lot of today's music would be without Guru.
