two songs: Les restos du coeur and Ma priere
hi, Mozaik asked for a translation for these two songs, and I thought I would make them known to you guys... so here you are:
comments and changes are most welcome! Ma priere My Prayer by Axelle Red I’ve toured the whole world If you knew I was disappointed You feel the bad vibes That flood us with misunderstandings Human behavior In reality, it’s so cruel I fear that we will become A virtual generation If I’ve always been hopeful Today I don’t dare believe it anymore I who had wanted so much A world that evolves I look but I don’t find A country that sends me I who had loved so much Makes me feel paralyzed I’ve traveled the whole world Hear my prayer I’ve traveled all of Europe If you knew what a happy impression You are boxed in and you develop It’s time to see it from another point of view Pictures of Africa Engraved in my subconsciousness Without politics They would be erased long ago If I’ve always kept hope Today I don’t dare believe it anymore I who had wanted so much A world that evolves I look but I don’t find A country that sends me I who had loved so much Makes me feel paralyzed I’ve traveled the whole world Hear my prayer Hear my prayer If not long ago I was still hopeful Sadly I don’t dare believe it anymore I who had wanted so much A world that evolves I look but I don’t find A country that sends me I who had loved so much Makes me feel paralyzed I’ve traveled the whole world Hear my prayer |

Les Restos du Coeur par Jean Jacques Goldman
I’m going to an appointment With those who don’t have anything anymore Without preconceived ideas, discussion, or chit-chat There will be no promises The daily happenings of the revolution But just for winter To be able to eat and to drink To all the ruined people of age and homelessness Those who have food and those who don’t If we think about you, that’s in fact egocentric Tomorrow, our names might lengthen the list Today, we no longer have the right Neither to be hunger, nor to be cold Passed them for him When I think about you, I think about myself I don’t promise you a revolution But just to eat and to drink A little bit of bread and warmth In the restaurants, the restaurants of the heart In the old days a place was reserved at the table A soup, a chair, a place in the stable Today our eyelids and our doors are closed The others are always, always in overdose I don’t have a bad conscience It doesn’t keep me from sleeping But to be honest, it sullies a little the taste of my happiness It’s not really my fault if there are people who are hungry But that’s how it will be, if nothing changes here I don’t have an answer on how to change your life But if I can help you for just a couple of hours, let’s do it There is for sure more misery, too much to think about But it’s going on here, here and now Original lyrics to both songs available at www.paroles.net http://www.paroles.net/chansons/17746.htm http://www.paroles.net/chansons/21158.htm Last edited by garçoncanadien; 11-22-2006 at 05:29 AM.. |

Thanks for the translations! I've only just acquired my Enfoirées CD's, and I'm sure I'll be referencing these words soon!

Amelie, "The Restaurants of the Heart" is the song played at the end of each Enfoires show.

It's the main theme of the show and the very first song ever made for that cause (created by Coluche).
It was made in 1985 or 86 before Coluche died, the official clip is below. Coluche is the first guy to sing (with a big cap, not a "real" singer , you can hear Yves Montand singing, right after Coluche (only a small animation of him in the clip though). Jean-Jacques Goldman is the guy singing between two girls. For football fans (soccer in the US), you can recognize Michel Platini at 2:02. You can see lots of scenes of all food stocks amassed to fill those free restaurants for homeless people... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xnp-wM9kzM8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xnp-wM9kzM8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> |
