Well at the end of the private autograph session last year, I asked aloud if we could film her saying hello to Alizee America and that had to be translated to her and that's not a very complicated question, English wise, and when I asked her to try on the AAm hat, that too had to be translated to her.

Also when ever we (the 4 reps of AAm) would say something to each other or to some of the other people in the room who spoke English, ala Instatubes, the media, and the Virgin Megastore mgr, she never once responded in anyway indicating she understood what was being said.

Lol, I don't think so. I've lived outside of this state for about 20 years and people tell me I don't have that much of a Boston accent any more. Certainly not the way you see it over done in so many movies now a days.

I know from reverse experience with French that it is often harder to understand a foreign language being spoken than it is either to speak it or to read it. When reading, you can puzzle things out, look up words you don't know, take as long as you need to; when hearing speech, none of that is possible. Alizée isn't around English speakers a lot; she doesn't hear English spoken a lot; her ear is probably not trained well for that reason. But she doesn't need to understand spoken English well in order to browse this forum, all she needs is to be able to read the language -- not even that; she can use Google Translate.

Having seen and heard some of her attempts to write and speak English, I can say that she is not fluent and makes frequent mistakes but does have a basic grasp. I see no reason why she could not participate in something like this if she wanted to.

Man you guys keep making it seem like she has to KNOW English to be able to read it on her English-speaking fan sites...

But one would think that she'd do the smart thing which is use a "1-click-to-translate-the-whole-page" service like Google Translate which can be ran in IE, Mozilla, and best of all Chrome.
