I'm not normally a fan of those X Factor/ Fame Academy type things.
But i like Diana Vickers. She's sort of 'out there'.... She has a bit of a Kate Bush quality to her..or something?
Judge for yourself?

She definitely intrigues me - yes she's different from the norm but I can't decide whether it's "fresh + artistic" different or just different for the sole purpose of getting noticed amongst the sea of generic pop. She's a bit hit and miss I find, her voice can sound unique and beautiful in one song and strained and warbly in the next. Hadn't seen this new song yet, so thanks for sharing! My favourite of hers is this:

Couldn't agree with more babyblue. She certainly is a 'strange little girl'.
It's hard not to like her and hard to know if that 'kookiness' is just an act or not?
I don't think it is.
Reminds me a lot of Kate Bush. Not the way she sings but the songs. Meaningless lyrics, lots of misdirected chord changes, heavy drumming etc.
Her voice to me is like a cross between Nina Persson frim the Cardigans or whatsherface from The Cranberries? Hard to put a label on it really.
She stood out a mile on the X Factor amongst the sea of wannabies. A bit like Cher Lloyd this year. Something different always catches the eye.

Oh plaz. Not much of a surprise that you wake & bake. Probably destroy your fridge at lunch time too.

Yeah I bought her album recently and there were parts of it I adored but parts that just left me cold and asking "wtf?!" She's got potential though, she just needs to find a winning formula and perfect it because at the moment it's pretty hit and miss.

I don't know whether you've heard of Marina and the Diamonds, but she's also been compared to Kate Bush a lot and I like her very much...

France in Eurovision Song Contest 2005. It finished 23 out of 24 in the final. It wasn't that bad, I remember the refrain was stuck in my head for a couple of days.
