It looks like Twitter is way more contagious than the "When pigs fly" flu!

Recording nowadays is mostly multitrack. This is where each instrument (or groups of instruments) are recorded on separate tracks. This allows the engineer to control the volume, EQ, pan, and effects of each track. It also allows musicians to put their parts in at different times or for one musician to play all the instruments in a song.
Once all the tracks are recorded and the song is complete, the engineer will mix all these separate tracks down into a two track master (in the case of a standard stereo mix). He does this by adjusting the various track controls while the music is playing back. This process can almost be like a performance in itself. Nowadays we have automation tools that record the movement of every fader and knob the engineer moves. This makes things much easier. The 2 track master is then put through a final mastering process. The good news is that the mixing stage is one of the last steps in producing an album (after recording and before mastering). In other words, the new album should be ready for release sooner rather than later. Yay!

P.S. It's no wonder your posts are so infrequent, you've got to be the most tired "Member" on this forum.
