This is good advice: give it a year, and see if it's still important to you. If you're still passionate about it in a year's time, do it--chances are you won't regret it. If not...well, you saved yourself some money, pain, and the embarassment of having to explain, at 45, why you thought it was a good idea at 18.

Well-considered tattoos are awesome. Ill-considered tattoos are unfortunate. (Case in point: a friend of a friend actually has the words "Tramp Stamp" tattooed on her lower back--yes, really--because she thought it was funny at 18. Now, as a 26 year-old mother, she's really embarrassed by it.) Don't make a spur-of-the-moment decision just because you "want a tattoo"--really think about what you want to be wearing for the rest of your life.

I got mine to honor my grandmama. Now I realize I don't need a tattoo to do that. It's how I live my life that honors her, not what's on my body.

Yea, the more you grow the more the tat will stretch out and eventually it won't look too pretty anymore.
