Question Alizee's English?

So I have listened to all of her english songs and performances a billion times. It seems like her english was very poor back in I'm Not Twenty and I'm Fed Up. It gets way better towards Limelight and Les Collines(Never Wanna Leave You); one can't even hear the French accent at some parts in LC. So I was wondering that since I have not seen every Alizee video out there, especially most of the minor interviews, if anyone knows of any English lessons that Alizee takes. Did she just rehearse very well to say the English? Or did some practice in her private life help her out? What I'm trying to get to, is does anyone know if she can carry on small conversations in English?

I think so, yeah. She briefly spoke English at both the Moscow show that opened the Psych tour, and the showcase she did in Aguascalientes. The first was probably rehearsed a little (although at one point she admitted she didn't know the English for what she wanted to say), but in Aguascalientes, at least, it appeared to be mostly off the cuff.

Wow, that is pretty cool. I don't know why I want to know this, it's weird. But do you know if any videos exist for the events you stated above? But yah If I did meet her I wouldn't be a jerk and make her talk to me in English. But I hope she will do an interview on TV in English soon, that would be my dream, to actually here her talk and not just see English rolling across the screen haha.

She speaks a bit of English in the middle of this song:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/cbjtQPRTPJQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/cbjtQPRTPJQ&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

As well as at the beginning here:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/69oU6LfyQ_4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/69oU6LfyQ_4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Actually, the song is in English too.

There's a little bit at the beginning here, where ironically she explains that speaking Spanish is a little too difficult for her, and she needs to bring in a translator. The way she says "Is that enough?" is alone worth the price of admission.

<object width="400" height="307"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=4446705&amp;server=vimeo.com &amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portr ait=0&amp;color=&amp;fullscreen=1" /><embed src="http://vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=4446705&amp;server=vimeo.com &amp;show_title=1&amp;show_byline=1&amp;show_portr ait=0&amp;color=&amp;fullscreen=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="400" height="307"></embed></object><p><a href="http://vimeo.com/4446705">Alizée Cena Show by Cancer Parte 4</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/alizeemexico">alizeemexico</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>

And of course there's always Lili's cover of "99 Red Balloons" from Moscow, which I don't think was sung anywhere else:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uaJciPmxZ_Y&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uaJciPmxZ_Y&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Really old(and of lower quality) footage of pre-Gourmandises Alizée singing in English!

Hey thanks I never saw this one before, man she definetely whipped that English right out and said it very well. I just hope she would use her somewhat good English skills to do like a British interview this go around. ANd i liked how she sort of got embarrased and crossed her legs when she said Spanish was too difficult, couldn't blame her haha. She was so adorable in that vid...Thanks Ruroshen!!!

O sorry I forgot to mention I knew about this one, and thanks for reminding me I need to get this one onto my iPod, such a great song!!!

Man I love this thread so far, I just can't beleive noone has cared to try and figure out if she had fairly good English or not, and it's turning out to be that she probably has had some English lessons here and there. Keep it coming and thanks alot guys!

Thanks for all that video footage, folks. As we can tell, Alizée's English is (or was then) not fluent, but probably sufficient to hold a limited conversation especially if someone also knows some French so as to end up in Franglish.

She's improved her English quite a bit over the years, partly I believe by coming here and reading our posts -- God help her. So if everyone would try to write grammatically and spell correctly, that would surely be a big help to her.
