Not quite, the French cheek kiss when they say hello don't they, but we usually only hug friends or familly. Our hellos are limited to a hello and maybe a handshake, we have a lot to learn.
 Although some young women in Québec a while back were randomly kissing people like this hug campaign, usually see it at concerts and festivals. Sometimes on the cheek, sometimes on the lips depending if they thought you were cute. *gives everybody here a hug* but saves the rest for Alizée
