Are all those Indian languages at least pretty similar to each other?

How about learning Dutch?
Not easy for foreigners to learn..... Anyway my languages are: dutch (fluent), english (close to fluent), french (still working on it, but improving), italian (a bit), german (pretty well) and fries (which is a small language which is officially spoken in a part of Holland - IMO useless, but hey it counts) |

If you are perfect in Hindi then learning or understanding other regional languages are not a big deal. Pretty much inter-linked.

Some languages have same script while some have common lot of words which makes it easy to understand. Maithili, the language spoken in my native place, can be understood with ease by Hindi speakers, can be spoken very roughly, but when you try to write proper sentences with somewhat decent sentence formation and grammar, it's gets difficult to do so. I'd would like to disagree with you in this topic. I have a Bengali friend. Everyday when we go to school, he used to talk to her sister in the bus and I pretty clearly or well almost understands what they are talking. This used to happen when the first time I ever heard that language but yeah, speaking may be a problem. What you told might be true for other languages. I'm not telling that learning Hindi is a substitute to all other languages but it helps a lot to understand or learn them pretty fast and easy.

Google tells me it's Scots Gaelic.
Is that the same thing as Irish Gaelic? Or is Google wrong?
