My headphones:
Bose Triport. I love 'em. They sound great, though admittedly not the most accurate. They're on the cheap side for high-end headphones ($150), and Bose tries too hard to "enhance" sound. But the real reason I got 'em is because they're so amazingly light and comfortable. They actually cup your ears so as not to press down on them. I could wear these phones all day! Perfect of listening to Lili! Last edited by Ben; 01-09-2007 at 02:33 PM.. |

I got Sennheiser HD-570 heaphones myself. 4 or 5 years old so they are starting to be at the end of their life. Costed me roughly 80 euros back then.
They have decent fit and very large velvet ear-cushions that can fit whole ear inside them. And velvet head band, too. The velvet makes it possible to wear them all day long without sweating. Very comfortable. But like said.... They starts to be old already. And new ones need to replace them soon. Sennheiser HD-600 or HD-650, I believe. Which are in range of 200 to 300 euros in Germany. I had HD-600 in test use for few days last fall and... wow... they are simply amazing ! Too bad my recent Paris trips are making it hard to buy one of those ! But I will. Maybe even this spring. Or atleast when Lili's album comes out ! |

Getting back on topic of Aliée in the car... I'm all for it. There's more ways to experience Alizée than just in an acoustically ideal environment. Sometimes you just want the experience of racing down the road, the wind streaming through your hair, and the music of Alizée pumping through your body carryng your soul all the way. Mélodie du vent! And that's an experience you can only get in the car, and a damn fine experience if you ask me.

Aw, I always miss out on the arguments!
I might be mistaken, but I think it's illegal in California at least, if not elsewhere, to drive with headphones or something else directly playing into your ears. It's kind of a silly law to have considering loud speakers would do the same, but having them on is too much of a distraction to the road and you won't be alert to sounds of traffic or ambulances and whatnot. RMJ, you mentioned a bit about the off-center position of the driver, even my pirmative set up has some options to stress the sound left and right, front and back and it works pretty nice. Particularly in my truck, I think my heavy-ass doors help somewhat to the acoustics and all that goodness. I'm by far not an expert, but I can tell you that when an automobile is being designed, at least for that states, the sound system definately crosses the mind's of the designers once or twice. I've been in some cars with pretty sophisticated systems, not to mention the pretty flashy lights and stuff. I think nurv's point he's trying to get across though is that playing Alizée really loud without regardless of quality is a great way to amp yourself up, and I would agree. ...and I agree with radio, when I turn things up really loud my bass does start to drown out the singing, so I usually have to cut it down to 40% RMJ - yes, other means do have better sound quality than a car nurvonic - yes, it is hella-fun to scream down the freeway coming home from school blaring Alizée until your speakers give out

I blast Alizée in my car every day, as a matter of course :-) My car has a very nice Bose surround sound system, far superior to what I've got in my apartment (besides which, my neighbors would probably be bothered if I truly blasted it here). To and from work every day, I've got it cranked up. I love how the the long low intro notes to ACC sound.
Alizée: the ultimate cure for road rage.

This alone should ring some bells...
They are just to attract people who have no idea of high fidelity sound. Anything with flashy lights will sound good to them. It can be seen in home theaters and home stereos too. The more lights, the more expensive, without any change in sound quality. Indeed. Very good example of how it should not be done. You don't much need imagination to hear that system. It will be pain in the ass... literally speaking... Not to even imagine how horrible it will actually sound. |
