Let's face it : in 1995, she's only 11, I think she's just starting to get interested in what music is about. That year MJ is already charged in a child affair, his new album is History (obsviously not a good one)...

She grew with a "falling MJ", becoming whiter and stranger... and not giving us new piece of art...

So what exactly MJ represent for her ?

Not much, I think...

Of personal importance, MJ = Mademoiselle Juliette, obviously.

Written words at times do not clearly portray what we mean. How we interpret something can reflect back on the attitude of the reader. I will take the MJ comment as a respectful good bye. The no public fathers day announcement, 'sigh', come one, really.

Yeah, I was wondering about that, especially since she seems like such a daddy's girl!

Colour me ignorant, though, but do the French celebrate it on the same day we do? Or even at all? (They do celebrate Mother's Day a little later than us, after all...)

Edit: Answered my own question - 'pedia says yes. Hmm.

There's no doubt in my mind that Alizée intended no disrespect and I didn't take it that way at all. It didn't even dawn on me to even consider her response as anything other than sincere. I guess it's all in how you imagine "tone of voice" which is hard to relate to somebody when typing.

I guess it isn't important how old she was... I mean her favourite song is by Simon & Garfunkel and she wasn't even born when Sound of Silence get famous... maybe she liked MJs music too... who knows?

yeah wiki says it but it says also that only certain people celebrate it... IMO Mother's Day seems to be much more popular in France... I mean there's a really big difference between the Father's Day and the Mother's Day article on french wikipedia... I guess Father's Day is less important and maybe not such a big thing... or I'm wrong...

Well I'm about the same age as her, and my earliest memory of Jackson was the buzz surrounding his "Dangerous" album (a pretty good disc), and how each video released for that - Black and White, Remember the Time, etc. - was such a big deal. And that's what Alizée posted. I'm with everyone else for whom the thought of disrespect didn't even cross their mind...

I think she linked to that particular video because she's a Eddie Murphy / Magic Johnson fan too!

I have a question and I am not sure if it was answered already or not. Why is her "name" on her account written as "Melle Alizée" and not just Alizee? Is Melle her middle name or something?
  • Name Melle Alizée
  • Location Ajaccio, Paris
  • Bio new album coming soon...

Melle is an abbreviation for Mademoiselle, which is Miss in english. I guess she just felt like putting Melle Alizee as her Twitter name.
