Since I seem to share most of your tastes in English music, although no one posted a Pearl Jam video yet
I thought I would share some of the great French music coming out of Québec. First up is Annie Villeneuve a young singer who if not known to you in France will probably be soon. These first two aren't aren't my absolute favourite performances of these songs, every one is unique because she always sings live, but the lyrics are displayed as she sings them so you can sing along if you want. Annie Villeneuve - Tomber à l'eau <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sxWUiTUu8u8"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sxWUiTUu8u8" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> Annie Villeneuve - Un ange qui passe <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/YCF0O39QDTs"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/YCF0O39QDTs" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> Two other great perfomances: Un Homme @ Bons Baisers de France Quand je ferme les yeux @ Devine qui viens ce soir Here a beautiful song is made even more so because she sings it with her twin sister. Annie & Suzie Villeneuve - S'il fallait <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/J_RvHBqNcQk"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/J_RvHBqNcQk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> And because the majority of you don't understand French here she sings in English, its a medley of 80's hits. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ia66Oqkm2ow"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ia66Oqkm2ow" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> Another one in English, but... Annie Villeneuve - Everybody dance now PS: It really sucks that YouTube is banned for you guys, I remember reading somewhere that it was because of the adult content on the site. And aFrenchie do the announcers sound funny to you because this is how we speak French in Canada. |

Those announcers are all Quebequers, when someone says French Canadian it usually is assumed that they mean Quebequers, being that they are really the only French or French as a first language Canadians. And there really isn't any French TV stations based outside of Québec, they just get broadcast accross the country. The only other French group are the Acadians but it is so small that they only have the odd show here and there no stations of their own. And people usually refer to them as Acadians not so much French Canadians, because internationally it usually means Quebequers. And like all countries the TV anouncers speak clearer when on TV, so you don't need subtitles to understand them if you're French and not Canadian.
And since Québec is the only officially French province they end up regulating French in Canada, because it's easier for other provinces to just follow their guidelines, although New Brunswick is the only officially bilingual province. Why most of us who speak French, besides the Acadians, sound like Quebequers once we are fluent enough to get rid of a really strong English accent. Last edited by Twitch; 10-21-2006 at 08:34 PM.. |

We don't actually have the videos they are just linked and streamed from YouTube, but if you really want them I can try and get the flv files of mine off of YouTube, but you will need a standalone flv player like Wimpy to play them. And they are low quality, lower than the ones brad has on the site.
What file hosting site do you prefer, as long as its free to upload it doesn't bother me. |

You need Adobe Flash Player 9 Active X. They usually offer to download it on your computer that way you can see the videos.

Then I bought the Pearl Jam rearviewmirror cd and about fainted when I found it was on there. |
