One problem (among many) that I have that keeps me from joining in is that many times the best discussions occur when I'm at work. I can hardly peek to see what is going on, much less take the time to join in. So I tell myself that I'll add my thoughts in the evening. By then though the topic has usually run it's course and whatever I had planned to add had been discussed and moved beyond.

I have to agree, if anybody from Sony gets on here and looks at the forum statistics, we'll look very good

Yeah, guys like VVV, Wasabi, Jalen, Marquis<3Alizée, paintballpdh19 were some of the most active and enthusiastic members, all of which made very interesting threads and had many great posts. I wish they were still around

I've been thinking about this thread since the morning... what I'll state here will only be my standpoint and way of perceiving things, so please don't generalize it.

First year after discovering Alizée, I've been in the state some of you called "being bitten by the Lili bug"). I joined AF and spent a lot of time writing crazy posts about one thing or another, about Alizée, about her two first albums, about UEDS... eventually I ran out of things to say and started repeating myself, but that didn't concern me, as I was still in the state of ave and affection. Unfortunately, due to my stupidity, I made some of the members there dislike me, and after that I simply had nothing to do there anymore. I miss people like Garfie and RMJ, who are not on this forum, though.

Then in November last year I joined this forum, and once more the state of being bitten by the Lili bug came back, although this time its effect was far weaker. I would probably have left this forum long ago, were it not for the fact that I have nowhere else to express my Alizée-related ideas and feelings, and that here I have been (and still am) in contact with people I can only dream about meeting in real life.
Anyway, what I have noticed is that things on this forum are repeating themselves over and over again, and to be honest, apart from talking to the members themselves, there really isn't much to do here. It has become clear to me that we cannot expect Alizée herself to inspire us (this is an echo of Corsaire's thoughts and posts), and because of that, relying solely on her twitter posts, pictures, music, videos and interviews isn't going to get this forum up and running for a long time.

I remember some great discussions about things like time travel and physics on AF with Orion and RMJ, and I miss such conversations here. But even such threads won't make this forum much more active and interesting, at least for me.

What I think we truly need are creations and collaborations. Alizée and non-Alizée related creations and collaborations alike. Yes, I am aware of and I appreciate tons of youtube videos and fan art (covers, wallpapers, ...) people here create, I've even seen some fan-made instrumentals, poems, even ideas for video games, but I would like to see, say, something more.

To be honest, I don't really know what I want to say, so I am going to take my thread "My Alizée related musical notation... kind of" in the articles and blog section as an example. Btw, this really isn't a musical notation and I would like to get this thread either renamed or deleted, but it does represent my desire to link my creations to Alizée.
You see, in my private life, I am nothing more than a random guy, who likes to fool around with what comes under his hands (and into his ears). Since when I first heard ML years ago, I knew that Alizée-related LB's music, his style and patterns in his music stimulate my brain more than any other music by any other composer I have ever heard. In the last few years I became versed enough in some areas of human activity (computer science, mathematics,...), that I can become creative myself, and at the same time with the discovery of Alizée herself a year and a half ago, I came in contact with the world of music and, voilà, I started creating my own tools for musical composition.
But to be honest, musical composition in itself never was and I think that it also never will be my goal. For me, music is only a by-product. The direction I am currently going in is that I want to be at least a hobby mathematician and scientist, and the tools I am currently creating like the one I described in my "blog" (my "Alizée-related musical notation") will perhaps resurface should I enter into lattice research (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lattice_%28order%29), or perhaps elsewhere in my activities. I don't know about how you perceive this possibility, but I see this as a way of linking Alizée's work to one's own personal work, which is in my opinion the ultimate way of both expressing gratitude towards her and using one's fandom in one's own work. Supremely, imagine hearing someone who won the Nobel prize to claim that he was inspired by Alizée (or LB or MF) related stuff

1)
The point I want to make is that I haven't really seen someone claim that he was inspired by Alizée or things related to her and then went and done something on his/her own as the result of this inspiration. All of you here have the capability to do such things. It doesn't have to have anything to do with music, art, biology, neurology, ... I just would want to see people post that she inspired them to do things.

Therefore, I miss the inspiration aspect of her work on this forum.

2)
What I also miss is more sophisticated and especially diverse fan art. I know that some of will not like me for saying this, I won't deny that there are some great fan art things posted on this forum, but I do think that this is perhaps the most important aspect of this community and because of that, I think that it should get more sophisticated than it currently is. Youtube videos and album covers don't cut it anymore, I would like to read longer poems, Alizée-related or not, I would also like to see people post their own novels, Alizée-related or not, I would like to listen to longer compositions made by members of this forum, Alizée-related or not, I would like to see people write programs connected with Alizée... perhaps the biggest wish (and dream) of mine regarding creations of the members of this forum would be to buy some of their stuff later in life (their books, paintings,...) and be able to claim that I remember them from Aam.
I know that what I wrote above is extremely unlikely, that you would already do such things if you really wanted to, but if somebody out there is hiding his works or is afraid to create them, you now know that somebody out there would want you to post your creations. (ok, I don't know about pornography, perhaps post that somewhere else ).

--> btw, I believe Digimaze is already programming stuff

3)
Collaboration. One can understand this is collaboration between people who create things (in connection with the point 2 above). One can also understand this as mutual help and cooperation, although as far as I am concerned, this is already present.

In all, what I am trying to say is that we ourselves should extend the universe of Alizée, as a community and as each individual, according to needs and abilities of everybody here. I hope that you don't perceive me as a idealist for writing this post, or that you will now hate me. I know too well that everybody perceives the world differently, I just wanted to point out things I think this forum lacks.

There are many issues that are causing this slow down.

1). "5" has been out for a while so all the excitement and anticipation that was going on while we were waiting for its release is dying down. Face it what more can we say about the album?

2). As Lefty said Alizée is much more open so the speculation of what is going on in her private life is no longer needed because of her daily Tweets and Instagram pictures.

3). I know I sound like a broken record on this but her fascination with tattoos is becoming a real detriment to her fan base. Her real fans it will have minimal impact on but those "Male" fans that may be sexually or romantically attracted to her, it may be becoming an issue. I lurked a few boards back a year or so after her marriage to Jeremy and the birth of Annili and yes they were big issues and a lot of her male fans hit the road afterward.

There is a burn out factor to, sometimes you need to step back and take an Alizée break once and a while. Plus we're in the summer months and a lot of the younger members are out of school and are enjoying their time outside.

That is why a couple of us have our "Where is Alizée" Instagram puzzle to break up the monotony of the board. There is only so much you can add to the forum after years of being a fan. No album or tour in the works what is there to talk about for most of the guys on the board? At least the girls can have in depth discussions on her wardrobe and cosmetics.

lapinschous, ALS, Matevz91, Ray4AJ, Fall06, lefty12357, Jake04, Saerdna,
Thank you all for chiming in!

I truly miss being here regularly, but I am now working 5 days a week and 6 nights a week. It is only due to a slight slowdown that I am able to get on and see what has been going on.

I don't have a home computer. I know that must come as a shock to some, but be that as it may, I try to find any computer I can to get on and try to "catch up" as much as possible.

I really appreciate all the translation and other help members have been so generous with their time to offer to we less "competant", or shall I say "french language-challenged" among us.

I will just keep getting on here as best I can and hope that not everyone abandons this site. I have not grown tired of Alizée, and listen to her music when I can.

Thank you all.

Stephen

Well, I must say that ALS (what does it stand for btw? =o ) masterfully summed up the current situation and my thoughts about the reasons of that recent quietening of the excitement following the new album release .

...and C-4 there's no need to thank us for what we're doing since it's always a pleasure for us to take part in the board's activity.

You and and a former member FandeAlizee(?) would have made a great discussions here! I think his former handle was Doc_ something?

But, anyways, IMO, he posted some of the most interesting topics here at AAM - both Alizee and non-Alizee related stuff. I'm sure you cans still find his old posts/threads here.

Actually, we used to do a lot of the things you mention. We had an "Alizée Birthday Fan Art" contest, I did a song that members provided singing for the last chorus, ImRawdg and I collaborated on a MJ remix, and 3 members wrote and recorded 2 songs inspired by Alizée. The Fan Art section has a lot of stuff in it. I would even go so far as to say we had more collaborations and creative projects going on here than on other Alizée fan sites. Unfortunately that's not the case nowadays. Here's some in particular:

The problem is that most of this stuff happened in the past and involved some members who have since moved on. Personally, I'm much more busy now than I was back then. It's hard for me to find time for it.

FandeAliFee?I actually do remember reading his posts months ago, and I refreshed my memory now. Thank you for reminding me. They weren't exactly my cup of tea (that is, I have to be in a certain mood to read such posts, otherwise they tend to leave a bad aftertaste in my mouth, don't really know what bothers me in them), but my problems aside, overall they were exceptional.

Won't happen. First, I am way to young (she would be 80 by the time when something could happen with me - older members, start your work, you can still win something while she is young!), second, I have major problems even with graduating!

Anyway, thank you for reading my post. The point of it all is that I wan't to see people be more creative, each in his/her own way.

EDIT: I saw Lefty's reply after posting my own reply. I was aware of some of the things you have done (you, ImRawdg,...), although of course far from all of them. I liked many of them! Thank you. I hope that I'll remember to check your channel later in the future (I'm on my cellphone right now).
