Emilie Autumn - if you want to hear some song of hers, I highly recommend "Shalott"

And her very best album is "Laced / Unlaced". You might not be keen on her music but you must admit she's skilled at violin - classical ("Laced") and electric ("Unlaced").

Serge Gainsbourg - actually, I am not very fond of his voice or themes of his songs. In fact, I am not fond of them at all. What makes me mention him here are his lyrics - well, that guy was a genius. Damn, I dislike him as a person but his way of using words was awesome.

France Gall - most songs from her pre-Berger era are simple, light yé-yé tracks about a young girl's problems, boys etc. Not too sophisticated but although not excellent, they're just good.
If you want to check out her music, I recommend beginning with her "Évidemment" album.

"Le paradis blanc" is a depressive song for me for I bind it tightly with the Vincent Humbert affair. I read his book "Je vous demande le droit de mourir" where he quotes the song's lyrics and being in the "white paradise" means to him being dead, which is what he fights for - euthanasia.

Ladyhawke - her music is good, the way Gall's is. Catchy and makes many people move

. When it comes to her lyrics, they are plain but very personal. She sings mostly about her anxiety, difficulties in relationships (she's got Asperger's), feelings and so on.
