Then if I see it's my choice:
Your heart's not free ...for me, so
I believe, sometimes love plays a game with me.

Alizée never performed this song live, but here is a nice video that someone put together:

That is a beautiful song. I had put together a video where I stitched pieces of video together to make it look like she was singing it but it came out anywhere near as good as my K O and Alcaline videos. I'll post a link but won't drop the s so it doesn't show up in a window.

I don't know why, but always I find my self listening to this song when at an Airport on an Airplane. Before this pandemic fiasco, my family and I would fly out to visit family members around the US. I would always put on this song.

This one is among the songs that I listen to when I want to take a break from the first albums. Her voice is perfect for slow songs like this.

That is a good one. I don't think I've ever checked into the English lyrics for it. I'll have to check it out.

Nailed it with the analysis. Whilst she's maybe not in the top echelon of the best singers out there, these sort of songs bring out the best of her voice in my opinion. Some of her other songs feel too fast and almost shy away from her voice, the Blonde album being the worst culprit but it happens elsewhere too.

5 though makes her singing feel more natural if that makes sense, possibly more so than any other album in my opinion.

And though it's in UEDS, Factory Girl is another one I really like for how her voice compliments the instrumental.

So as you know, the album 5 contains songs that are very personal about Alizee, especially at the end of her marriage. I believe this song is one of those are very personal and are directed at (ahem!) somebody that can be easily guessed.

Jeune Fille (Young Girl)

You tell me that the world needs to be redone
With your undone shirt
That some people don’t have a roof
And you, do you want me?
You say that if this continues
Our species will die
But I don’t listen to you

So if I were you…
I’d sing lalala
If you knew how
You’d sing yeah yeah yeah
Yeah Yeah Yeah

You tell me that the most important thing
Is to be beautiful on the inside
Like you on the outside
Who speaks to the elderly, like they’re dead
I don’t have a thought about the topic
No view, no opinion
But I know what I want

So if I were you…
I’d sing lalala
If you knew how
You’d sing yeah yeah yeah
Yeah Yeah Yeah

Young girl, I don’t have the time
Young girl, everything is ahead
Young girl, being off road*
Young girl, I forget death
Young girl, the opinions of others*
Young girl, it’s not my fault
Young girl, I don’t have the time
So if I were you…I’d sing lalala
If you knew how
You’d sing yeah yeah yeah
Yeah Yeah Yeah

* Dans le décor can also mean in the background, but in certain situations it can mean to be off road, and I thought this made sense in the context of the song.
Le regard des autres - literally means the looks of others, but carries the meaning of worrying about what others think of you.

It hurts to read that.....

I'd like to discuss it more if it doesn't go against our rules, written or other wise.

I have to think from this song, he knows he screwed up big time.

If you don't sleep at night, if you think about me Give
a phone call, you know I'm here
And girls' likes smell like vanilla
But it's junk
I'm here my big empty house, I just play FIFA
You know I'm solid when the friends are around
But if I smoke the weed, I see your clothes
I see you in front of me

[Chorus]
So I roll all during the day, from October to summer
Cardboard on the right facing the sun, I should take a break I
ride all day, it helps me forget
That whatever we say and whatever we do, is better stop there You
better stop there

[Verse 2]
The weeks go by, summer in Ibiza
Can you imagine girls, I tried without you
But when I got into bed, I surprised myself
Thinking of you
I'm back in Paris, it seems that everything is working for me
I met Lucille, she me Said you had a new guy
I smiled, she goes on with life
I'm happy for you

[Chorus]
And me, I ride all day, from October to summer
Cardboard on the right facing the sun, I should take a break I
ride all day, it helps me to forget
That no matter what say and whatever we do, it's better to leave it there
Better to stop there

Yes, the lyrics to Juene Fille is a tough read, just one of many songs on 5 that share the common theme of her first marriage. Alizee had said in an interview that 5 revealed a lot about her and that every song had a special meaning. Out of the 11 songs on the album, 6 of them were written by Thomas Boulard. Those 6 songs were sad and were unmistakably about Alizee and Jeremy. The other songs were written by various artists.

I think Alizee trusted Boulard to handle correctly the very delicate matter of her marriage and the emotions that she felt. Below are the 6 Boulard songs. I have all the translations in case somebody is interested.

À cause de l'automne
10 ans
Mon chevalier
Jeune fille
Happy End
Dans mon sac

The album closes out with Dans mon sac, which is a song about her leaving. It's a painful song.

Regarding discussing the songs on the forum, I do not see why it would break any forum rules as long as we stay within the boundaries of what Alizee chose to make public. We need to remember that Jeremy is Annily's father. He also might be a different man today than what he was at 21. So I think a civil discussion about the album can be done without hurting anybody's feelings, should we have lurkers here.

It sure does seem like it. Now Jeremy could have fired back at Alizee, but he probably did not have any ammo.

Veni Vedi Vici is my favorite song on Gourmandises, and I agree that it unfairly receives less attention than other songs like JBG and Mon Maquis, among the non-singles of course.

MCE is a bit tougher. She performed almost every song on it during the En Concert tour. But maybe Toc De Mac.

Psychédélices, I think Mon Taxi Driver should get more listens. It's subtly sensual, but remains a soft, slow style of song that suits her so well like Aragorn mentioned.

UEDS in general is underrated. Mes Fantômes is a solid one. It followed Psych's L'Effet as a solid final song on the album.

On 5, I think Si Tu Es Un Homme is great, haven't seen a lot of discussion on it.

Lastly, on Blonde I think Seulement Pour Te Plaire is trippy, in a good way.
