My advice, don't go there. Comparing of musical pieces isn't appreciated by everyone, especially not the "accused" ones.

I will say that the opening lines have a similar melody, but in total, I think the songs are quite different.

When you look at how many notes are in a scale, there are quite a few different note combination possibilities. Remove all the combinations that are unappealing, and you are left with a much smaller number. It is inevitable that some of these combinations will be used over and over again.

Personally, I like Idéaliser more than Can You Feel the Love Tonight. But that's just my personal preference. Just for the record, I am also a fan of most of Elton John's work.

Pretty much this. Either that or Elton John stole the idea from the wonderful Alizée.

The beginnings of the two songs are fairly similar, I'll give you that.

But if you ask me, they aren't nearly as similar as the beginnings of "Lilly Town" and "Fifty Sixty"

As Wasabi said, 50/60 is more technoish, I agree with that. But I never seen such a similarity Just few minutes ago I checked them and woah they are very similar. I discovered another interesting fact
And btw. Nevermore (Jamais plus) is title of Paul Gaugain painting

Welcome mate. Hope you stick here for long
V2.0 is Alizée from MCE era? But each version of Lily is perfect
Some prefer 17 years old revelation francaise Alizée from Gourmandises some prefer full of energy 19 years old teenager from MCE and En Concert. And some prefer calm wife and mother Alizée from Psychédélices.
On-topic: Any Alizée related questions?

Both songs sound similar because the key is kept within the same scale. Especially the opening notes for both 50/60 and Lilly Town. The reason why they have the same upbeat tempo and feel is just experimenting on the musician's part.

To compare either of the two songs to any song is nearly impossible. To compare the style to another musician's style, I'd have to say the two songs sound like music that would've been made by Robert Smith from The Cure.

Alright, I'll admit. Idéaliser doesn't sound like Elton John, except for the main verse. That's it.

I've ended it.

V1, 2, and 3.... that's pretty cool....

I'd honestly be happy with any version.. but I'd prefer the original V.1
