It isn't a French name, for a start.
Although if you look up the name Gladys on a <a href="http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Gladys" target="_blank">baby names site</a>, it's actually the Welsh version of the quite French name Claudia. (Never mind the "Latin origin"…)

Hmm . . . well, now that gets a bit more interesting, because the Roman Claudius family, or at least that branch of it called Pulcher, were famous for their dark good looks. Publius Clodius, the infamous demagogue, and his sister Clodia who was the subject of Catullus' poetry, were members of the family.
So I could see Claudia. But not Gladys. No, no, no!

Does anyone know what Alizee's Mom's (Michelle) maiden name is? I know there's been a ton of discussions before about where Jacotey originated from. But, what about her Mom? Thanks and sorry if this is in the wrong thread.
