Wow, I was thinking this earlier today, wondering if Alizée had any Christmas songs.

Awe... thanks for shattering my hopes.

No Christmas songs, what about the more traditional Christmas hymns, the French in Québec until only about a decade or so ago were always heavily influenced by the church. At one time it was said you couldn't throw a brick in Montréal without breaking a church window (by Mark Twain, so it was a long time ago). But I am not saying I want Alizée singing hymns, I was just curious if it was only the commercialized Christmas music that the French don't bother with or all of it. I've been exposed to many French Christmas songs on the radio (good and terrible) here and was just curious why they didn't bother with them in France, or do they just keep playing the same selection of old ones over and over. Like these "Douce Nuit" (Silent Night), "Vive le vent" (Jingle Bells), "Mon beau sapin" (O Christmas Tree)...(the words are different, just the music is the same, and I linked the first one because it was readily available on a site I stumbled accross)

OMG that was awesome! I was pretty indifferent about the whole thing before, but after listening to that, OMG! If you put Lili's sweet voice in there....I'd die, lol. I would buy that CD so fast.

About that, are you saying that they really don't play Christmas music in France? Or is all the music they play 50 yrs old?

That was pretty cool, Twitch, thanks a bunch. That particular singer threw me off, but I agree with rwd, Alizée singing that would definately be something beyond spectacular.

Yes, only "classic" old songs like "Vive le vent" ("Jingle bell" I think), "Douce nuit", "Mon beau sapin" ("O Tannenbaum") and others. The one I was thinking of above was "Petit papa Noël" ("Petit"="Little", "papa or père Noël"="Santa Clause") by Tino Rossi, a ...Corsican singer and it was released in the 50s or 60s. Since that one, nothing by any "current modern" singer. The main reason would be that it would sound very childish for an adult singer. That's why I mentioned that only a very young child or band of young children could do that, but it doesn't even happen...

EDIT: oops, I read rwd716's post before yours, Twitch! At least, I'm confirming what you said about the old songs that are only used in France
