Problems with the forum "Spy" feature?
Frequently I have been having problems with the "Spy" tool on the forum. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. When it doesn't it seems like a whole day goes by before it works again.
Has this been happening to anyone else? EDIT "Spy": Last edited by Ray4AJ; 01-28-2016 at 09:45 PM.. |

It is happening to me as well, very often last days. Something is wrong with that Spy thing.
Somebody should look into it, somebody who is into those technical stuff. |

I had noticed it too and reported it to Merci Alizée. He said he thinks the spy feature might be a third party software and there might not be much we can do about it; why I'm not sure but it would probably be a good idea if somebody else reported it to him so now he'll definitely know it is a problem.

I'm having desktop issues myself today. I hope to go out and get a new coax cable tomorrow to see if that might fix it, so unless it can wait a few days, maybe someone else can check into it. I'm using my smartphone currently as a hotspot.

------------------------------------------- I'm wondering if I am somehow causing the frequent outages. I didn't know if it was only happening to me or to others as well, that's why I asked the entire forum. I've noticed that it seems that the problem often occurs just after I update the "twitter and Instagram" thread and/or add a "Alizee's Postings of the day" event to the calendar. Then it seems to resolve exactly 24 hours later. Yesterday evening I added a new post to the thread, and 'spy' stopped working. It started working (for me) this evening exactly 24 hours later. A hypothesis.... That thread has almost 5000 posts and maybe that somehow affects 'spy.' Maybe putting the same information in the thread and on the calendar is causing it. Or maybe having so many events with the same name is causing it. To test these theories, I will create a new thread for 'twitter and IG 2016' and give the calendar post unique names. Hopefully these efforts will help this issue. I find the 'spy' tool to be very useful. Hopefully this post won't break it again. |

Spy is just a modification to the vbulletin. It hasn't been updated by developers for last 10 years. We don't have much option to fix issues related to it. Please check if it works fine with new thread.

I don't think the new thread idea worked.

Just a hunch... try editing the 'emojis'? out of your instagram posts. Maybe for the last couple of days and a few new A posts.

Edit And... I think it worked. I went back and edited the recent posts, and Spy seems to be working right now. We'll see how it works for the next update. Perhaps 'Spy' isn't able to display the emoji even though the forum is. Last edited by Ray4AJ; 01-30-2016 at 06:30 PM.. |
