It is very likely that the appropriateness of this thread on AAm, and its content, will be dealt with one way or another in the near future. There has been an ongoing discussion among the mods and Ben about how best go about it; we want to strike a good balance. However, it is agreed that this thread in particular has entered onto a slippery slope of appropriateness which will not be allowed to continue indefinitely.

I'd like to inquire as to what is actually questionable about this threads content? I have yet to see a nude or anything that I can't see elsewhere on this site or on my TV.

I Concur, there has been no nudity, and we are merely talking about women. It's a guy thing to do, and i think this is really the only thread that allows us to
talk among the guys, for the majority don't go into the chatbox.

Jeez, since when are we getting so equal opportunity/politically correct?

Don't get me wrong, there shouldn't be any nudity or pornography on here(which I've yet to see), but I don't see why it should be locked.

OK, before anybody gets their back up, nobody's saying that anyone has done anything wrong, or that the thread is inherently bad. Ben and I have both posted to it recently. And it's absolutely true that there hasn't been any nudity--and believe me, I have been watching this thread like a hawk waiting for somebody to post some. (Wait, that came out wrong...) At worst the images have been PG-13 (albeit really pushing the envelope of PG-13 in some cases). Believe me, we appreciate the restraint.

The thread itself has kind of meandered from its original goal somewhat, though, which was I believe was supposed to be a discussion of the many complex reasons why we love women. Lately it's been more of a "post pix of hot girlz" thread with occasional commentary on each girl's (ahem) attributes. I believe this is the slippery slope to which CFH refers.

What we've been debating is whether or not the thread is appropriate for the site, and how it reflects on the community we're representing. There's concern that new visitors (or just visitors in general) may find it off-putting, or worse be offended by the apparent objectification of women that's happening here.

And before anyone leaps to the conclusion, we're not just talking about female visitors either--in fact, it was a few male members' misgivings about the thread that started the conversation. (Heh..."male members."

) The idea of attracting or retaining more female visitors to the site isn't something we've discussed internally at any length at all. We just want to appear inclusive and respectful to everybody. We're not sure that allowing this thread to continue in its present form accomplishes that goal.

What to do about it? We're not sure yet, which is why CFH used the words "near future" and "ongoing discussion". It's also why the thread has pretty generally been left alone until now. If anything's to change, though, we'll be sure to keep you posted.

Actually, (at the risk of sounding like a teacher's pet) I quite agree, ruro. All this thread is is hot girl after hot girl. And I use the term hot for a reason. It may not need locked, but it doesn't seem to serve any purpose but for male members to fawn over women. I could care less, if I really want a girl I will go meet one of the real ones at my local anything. The original point of this thead was quite a good idea, I would like to respond to that original question. But I won't. This thread's relevance to the site is questionable, at best. At second thought, perhaps locking is a good idea. But that ís not my choice, it is for admins/mods to decide. Oh well, no more attractive women on ALIZÉE America... Oh, wait! Alizée is far more than 'hot' (she isn't hot at all imho, that word is too commonplace, and invokes images of exhibitionists in my mind), and there are plenty of these dime-a-dozen hot girls on youtube and google.
