This site has been closed as a result of a criminal investigation by IFPI, BPI,
Cleveland Police and the Fiscal Investigation Unit of the Dutch Police (FIOD ECD) into
suspected illegal music distribution.

That's a pretty scary message. I am also reminded of an article I saw about a woman who was fined over $9 000 per song for a number of songs that she had been accused of downloading (asserts that she did not). She was being fined over $200 000.

The idea that downloading music puts you at that kind of risk doesn't make it an attractive proposition in the least.

torrent sites can't be held responsible for sharing the actual song just the means of downloading a song because the torrent only holds tracking data and such and not the actual song or music so they will most likely be back up one day.

Wasn't Oink's thing that it's users uploaded prerelease albums and the like... So more users meant more content and they had to be taken down, or it would become way too big...
