I don’t follow (anymore) the Veikkausliiga, but when I was a little younger, I also followed it a bit too [because I played football myself at a young age]!

Sure, I'm following the national team aka Huuhkajat, although the success has been bad before, now it's getting better...

Yes, Finland, Canada and perhaps Latvia are probably the only countries where hockey is more popular than football, and in many countries no team sport beats football...

^Oh well... I was forgetting... of the famous Finns now Pukki, but the most famous Finnish footballers are Jari Litmanen and Sami Hyypiä.

Do you know them, even though you probably haven't been able to follow them before...?

No, but I looked them up and did some research. They were part of the “golden generation” in the 2000s that everyone expected would qualify.

Yes... This current generation can no longer be called the golden generation, even though they became the first generation to win a place in the UEFA EURO or FIFA WorldCup.

That real golden generation was really close to the games, but always in the end someone went wrong.

It has now become an award when we got to the Games, but in terms of achieving it, we have to keep in mind the rather big reason that UEFA EURO increased the number of participants from 16 to 24.

In fact, Litti was once the TOP5 player in the world and dominated e.g. The Champions League in Ajax.

Hyypiä played for a really long time there in England, ie in Liverpool......

And so on...

First Germany and now also Denmark together with the host country Qatar have taken their place for the 2022 FIFA World Cup!

The groups and qualifying systems are of course different, but a little surprising is a quick entry for the Danes to the tournament... and we won them in the European Championships!

On the other hand, Italy, for example, has not yet reached that place, even though they have a huge winning streak (+ draws) without losses...

And Finland was drawn into a tough qualifying group, what with France.

I recall Italy lost to Spain earlier this month? After a couple more matches, I’m sure they’ll qualify directly soon enough.

Personally I am following the qualifiers from the Asian confederation (spoiler: the same teams will show up again).

Wow, true!

Loss in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.

I think that whole format is a bit "useless", so I haven't followed...

That is, 37 wins or draws before this loss for 3 years [World record, btw]... [And yes, a rather difficult group for Finland... I would finally like China to raise the level when it comes to Asian qualifiers!]

A great good boost to the sports world when Sheriff Tiraspol "dominates" UCL!

I hope the team is not already too proud that the downhill will not start!
