Bingo! You hit the nail on the head. I new it was not an original, but I just couldn't remember this group or exactly when it was done before. I figured it was in the 60's though. That's why it has an old school sound. I like Alizee's rendition. I just wish the instruments in her version had more destinct separation and crispness like LB's arrangements. Although it gives me hope for the rest of the album.

Lili has a nice new single here. I like that it has a somewhat dated sound to it. Some here stated it sounded 60-ish. The chorus of both songs are constructed from a somewhat common chord progression. The songs don't have the exact same progressions in total, but parts are very similar. A good part of the chorus melody is similar. To be honest, we are going through a period of time where not much imagination is found in popular music, but to be fair, there are a limited number of progressions that work well in pop music. It's not surprising many of the same ones appear over and over again. Taking all of that into consideration, I think Alizée's new song is fine.

Even LB copied himself. For instance, "Amélie m'a dit", "Lui ou Toi" and "Moi, Lolita" are basically built off of the same 4 chord progression.

Like I said in thr chatbox...people on ChartsInFrance sign up on that site for a reason: They follow the singer they like, and criticize the crap of all the others...rarely liking any other singer.

The true value and appreciation of Alizée's single can be found in the uber-positive tweets that flooded her page, and the fact that we crashed her site for 8 minutes, sending Sony Music France into a panic...that's right...theydidn't expect so many hits...if only we had the stats for how many times the song has been played so far and how manypeople are signed up for her newsletter!
