How very sneaky of her.

So if I run into her one day, say, in San Francisco, I should probably pretend I don't recognize her, to be equally sneaky. I'll keep that in mind.

A couple weeks ago, I saw a TV program where Avril Lavigne was performing some of her songs in a small acoustic venue. It would be pretty cool if Alizée did something similar. I bet the ticket prices would be costly for a seat. One could only wish...

It is relatively rare that a non-English European pop act tours successfully in the US. Alizée does have the potential to be an exception because of her youth, her intelligence and charm, and her work ethic. But since RCA/Sony is not a charitable organization, more preparation will be needed before Alizée can make a profitable tour here.

She will need to improve her English to the point where she can not only "survive" her promotional appearances on network, satellite/cable and local TV shows and live in-store signings, but actually be very comfortable and relaxed so that her natural charm shines through. The immersion programs actors use would be ideal - but she'll need time off from touring to do it, which means late 2008. Fluency in English will also yield other opportunities for her, including movie roles.

She needs to have at least one song from "Psychédélices" used in a major US motion picture, to broaden her exposure. It's a fabulous movie-cut album really, with lots of styles to choose from. Since she is in "Sony Town" now including the publishing side, it would be natural to promote her in-house for an upcoming Sony release. One prominent cut in a good film could make the difference.

No disrespect, but she needs to work on the live singing chops or risk an audience backlash in the US. We are a fickle and picky nation of concertgoers who have come to expect - and receive - top notch performances without any (obvious) tricks. People will not pay $50 to watch a lip-synced show - it would cause a scandal and possibly force cancellations. Even pitch correction is dangerous because it messes with vocal timbre and can't be used in an intimate setting. We know that when she rehearses hard Alizée can deliver a knockout live sound. She'll have to do that for the US market.

Lastly, she needs some kind of US representation that is willing to invest a couple of years laying the groundwork. Whether it's Sony A&R, a talent agent, a manager, or some combination - she needs a champion over here who believes in the potential.

If all of these things come together, you might be astonished at the success of "Alizée USA 2009." If not, she's still a wonderful, classy performer who will enjoy a great European and Latin career.

Actually, I think Tink may have hit the nail on the head. She may just not want to be that big a mega-star, such as success in the U.S. would make her. It's undeniable that she's never even tried, and really the only explanation for that is lack of ambition to succeed here.

Perhaps her American fans need to resign themselves to going abroad for her concerts. It's not nearly as big a sacrifice as she'd have to make in terms of change in lifestyle. Let's not be selfish.

I concur, Tinker bell is a Disney character which makes it American. That is the first step.
She would do great here I don't know what everyone is saying.

Umm -- I was referring to oOTinkerbellOo, the occasional poster here, who is French.

The point being that Alizée may not WANT to do well here. It has nothing to do with whether or not she CAN.

Unfortunately, if Alizee never comes to America, I will probably never see her perform.
