I would start with your list, maybe remove one or two, and add Kansas, Yes, Queen, Ambrosia, Styx, ELP, Transatlantic and Spock's Beard (before Neal Morse left). I've always had a soft spot in my heart for prog music, especially the old stuff. I also like a lot of singer/songwriters like David Wilcox (the American one), Brenda Weiler, Lucy Kaplansky, and Gretchen Peters, to name a few.

I've learned a lot about musicianship from listening to the old prog bands and I've learned a lot about songwriting from singer/songwriters. I could add a lot more, including more current bands, but the list would be way too long.
