Default Movie or album??? which would you prefer?

If you had a choice between Alizee starring in a movie and Alizee releasing another album, which would you prefer?

1) I would rather see Alizee star in a movie.
2) I would rather see Alizee release another album.

I chose movie mainly because I think she would be a success—a terrific and very photogenic actress, and it would be great for her future career options.

For me, it's not even close. I want to see her sing and dance to her own songs again.

I would've loved to have seen the Blonde album with the polish that Myelene and Laurant could've brought to it.

Thanks; I've heard of Alcaline, but I've never listened to it before.

I don't like the electronic processing on the vocals. Maybe someone thinks it sounds cool, but I think it sounds stupid.

I think this song would sound better if it was produced with what you might call a "smooth jazz" sound. Get rid of the electronic processing on the vocals. Make the backing track less electronic and more "orchestral."

In general, keep the tempo the same, but give it a "smoother" sound.

Album, hands down. A lot of the discussion about her doing movies has boiled down over and over to her beauty, and sticking her in front of a camera because "why not." However, conventional beauty is not all it takes (and is not always a factor) to make it in the movies. A more important question is if she's got the acting chops to really make some waves, and we haven't seen much of that yet. She is undoubtedly beautiful but it would be awful to see her type-cast as eye candy, so I would prefer to have another album to listen to.

Lol, have you read the lyrics man?

I'm trying to imagine a jazzy orchestral choir singing:

The lyrics of the song convey an energetic "battery-powered" feeling of escape (through dance or music, she mentions a voyage through her headphones). I don't think smooth jazz or orchestra would fit the song at all.

I'd like to see how she would do in a movie. Maybe she would fall flat on her face--- the only way to know is to try it.

(Another thing about a movie is it would force her to wear nice clothes. Mylene forced Alizee to dress up. Les Enfoires-- from what I've seen--- forces Alizee to dress up. A movie or TV role would also force Alizee to dress up.)

Album, definitely. Good timing would be middle 2020 because Alizee has some PR work to do.

In my opinion, she should do these two things first:

1) Perform a concert or two in Mexico this year. When her fashion show and concerts fell through last year, she did tell her Mexican fans she would be back as soon as possible. She should follow through.

2) Participate in Les Enfoires 2020, with or without Greg. She needs to become visible again in her own country.

An ideal situation is that Alizee work with Mylene again, but Boutonnat would have to write music for Alizee that is not MCE part 2. Gone are the En Concert days of short dresses and big stage shows. Pop is a lot different today than what is was in 2003 and I don't think Alizee would be comfortable with this genre anymore. It all sounds the same now anyway.

The idea about jazz that Cou Cou brought up is not too absurd. Alizee said it is her favorite music to dance to. I have heard enough jazz to know that some is lame, but some is very lively and entertaining. Alizee's album doesn't have to sound like a New Orleans jazz band, but it can be a fusion of jazz and something culturally significant to France, or Corsica specifically.

Alizee singing La Javanaise shows she can cross genres with ease. It's a folksy love song, and she pulls it off.

No doubt, her rendition of La Javanaise is incredible. It's the only song of her's that I've gotten a friend to like and actually sing aloud. He even put it on his ipod (this was some years ago). I also believe she could do an amazing job if given a jazz tune and good (hopefully English) lyrics. But he was referring to Alcaline. In all fairness, AAm's talented musicians and artists such as Lefty or ImRawdg could cook up a good jazz remix of the song, but I don't think it would have been a good fit as an original.

I know the conversation was about Alcaline, but it got me thinking about jazz as a whole and whether that sound would be a good direction for Alizee.

I like Alcaline but her use of auto-tune makes the song seem dated and gimmicky. I think L'amour Renfort is a better song as far as French pop goes, at least to me. But I have always been one to enjoy the "deep cuts" of an album more than the songs that are promoted. I find them to be more creative. From rock music way back in the late 60's and 70's, I sought out the more progressive music over mainstream. This is why I think I would really enjoy Alizee making an album with some jazz hybrid sound.

I'm not sure what I meant when I said I wanted a "jazz" version of Alcaline. I don't like the way the song is produced -- in particular, I don't like the electronic processing on the vocals. (It sounds like they're applying a "Cher" vocoder effect, among other things.)

The vocal on Javanaise has only reverb on it--- that's how Alcaline should have been done.
