Alizée's Accent

I swear that I still can't hear a Corsican accent and that it's only her for me (still sometimes only when she mumbles a bit). It may be me, but I asked around me since those accent threads above and all friends agreed with me, at least about Alizée

i think it is her rolling R sounds ... her's sound way more distinct to me. like she puts a lot more into them than most other do maybe? whatever it is .. it is awesome

Maybe it's so close to you own accent that you can't hear it ? It would sound "normal" to you then.

Ok, I see what you mean about her R sounds. She sometimes "scratches" them more than normal indeed. But I still think it's her only. By the way, don't mix the French R sound that is "scratched" up with the Russian R sound for example that is "rolled"

The french definately do roll their Rs, it's just kinda rare..

Listen to Alizée in the funtv interview when she says 'vraiment', you will see what I mean.

I don't remember what part of the interview though..

Old people in certain regions indeed. And in old songs too, like George Brassens did. But it's very rare indeed.

All depends what you call "roll". I'd bet she only "scratches" the R stronger...

I can't really tell, where I live, I hear a lot of French canadians, and can only recognize really extreme French accents because I am so used to hearing it.
