Point Numero Uno: Lolita will never die! Long live L O L I T A and the Angel! I'm not saying that Alizée should put on the "Jetson's" dress again(unless she wants!) and I'm not saying she should do the same dance(again, unless she wants, although, imagine the crowd reaction if she dropped in about 30 seconds during a live performance! I do think she should add more dancing to her shows, she doesn't have to do the "matando el gusano" style to still be very beautiful and entertaining.) What I am saying is that since the Lolita/JEAM/JPVA/Isla image is out there, she may as well embrace it, love it, have fun with it and utilize it as the rung in the ladder that it is. As opposed to trying to rip the rung out. For as long as Alizée lives and is willing to perform, at least some of her audience will still want to hear and see her sing Moi...Lolita (JEAM, etc.). If she were 80+ years old, it would not matter! Here is an example of where Lili could be 30+ years from now: The following is Olivia from a 2006 live performance in Sydney, Australia. At the time, Olivia was 58 beautiful years young. She is the only other artist (at least for me anyway) that I can recall from my many years that can create the Lili-esque magic. Olivia! The personification of class, grace, charm, charisma, the irrepressible smile, the moves, the music, the looks, the electricity, the intangible and yes.....the proverbial much cliched "je ne sais quoi". Is that not Lili-esque at the highest level at 3:12 to 3:33?!? And in the DVD at the end of this song she says "Hello, Sydney!", two simple words, 100% electric! (When I saw this a while back I rushed out and ordered the DVD and I must say that it exceeded my expectations. It's a true work of amazing art. Want to impress and make your parents happy, this DVD should do the trick, might make you happy, too.) Olivia, making Lili-esque Magic! Point Numéro Deux: In the past, prior to the internet and sites like YouTube, I think it was easier for an artist to "retool" or "recreate" their image because they weren't competing with their prior image so directly. In a big and perhaps unprecedented way, Lili is competing against herself! She has potentially millions of viewers yet to discover her and what will they see first? Chances are JEAM, Moi...Lolita, La Isla Bonita, JPVA, etc. She, along with her prior compatriots set the bar incredibly high. It's pretty awesome to realize that at the tender age of 24 the Angel has a lifetime's worth of discography! Not to even mention "En Concert" and all the wonderful vids. Alizée could probably never put out anything new and her livelihood would still be secure (as long as she gets out and does some shows). Thankfully, for us, it appears that she intends to continue to produce new works. I really believe that some how, some way the best of the Angel is yet to come!! Until that definitive work(which could be spread across multiple new works) comes to fruition, she could just keep building on the previously mentioned rung in the ladder. Point Number Three: I, for one really appreciated the work and effort behind "Psychédélices" and the courage it took to make the break. The shotgun approach was ok, trying out different things (didn't break any laws that I'm aware of). We always have to keep in mind that it is impossible to please everyone and, in fact, when one attempts to please all, the frequent result is nobody's happy. She managed to avoid that scenario. That's good. Some of the tunes from "Psychédélices"(not 100% sure which) will carry on into the future. Lastly, a question for you Deepwaters: Specifically, what aspects or facets of my earlier post do you agree or disagree with? P.S. AIF, don't have the time to respond today, watch this thread, probably Monday.

I won't be posting here as often as before, but I don't plan to entirely disappear. Quote:
Seriously, while Alizée hasn't rejected what she did in the Mylène days, she's moving in new directions now. We should not expect to see the same image, because that's not where she's coming from any more. My advice is to accept that and open up to the new things that are coming. Quote:
One thing to bear in mind is that she's learning how to manage a musical career, something she never had to worry about in the old days. There have been some stumbles, n'est-ce pas? It was a mistake to believe that she and Jérémy had the experience between them to do this without more professional guidance. But that's how people learn, and she's young and will get there. Quote:

i agree. the only thing that could really screw things up is if she quits. (which i hope she never does!)
but i do like the new direction shes going. especially the songs on her Psychedelices. though my all time favorite is still JPVA. in all honesty however, as long as she remains as genuine and sweet as she is, im sure i'll be able to fall in love with any music she can come up with.

i agree waht all you guys are saying, pysc. was a experiment but in my opinio that is my favorite cd that she produced thus far. I love all her songs and cd's but psyc. by far is still my favorite. Like some of u said the only way that she would fail if she quits, thats 100% true and there is no signs of her quiting. New CD comming out in September, and also she is in continous contact with us threw Twitter and such.

The Twitter thing has been pretty cool. I dare say, we've hardly if ever got that much direct contact from her to the world that wasn't some arranged interview or something.
Well, in any case, we hadn't heard anything from her for so long and then more recently a few tid bits here and there (and the letter of course). The thing is, it's because she now has something to say I think. We wished to hear anything from her the whole half of last year and then some, but I guess she had nothing to say then.
