X-Box 360 S

So, I bought my son a new X-box 360 S for his birthday. Accoding to the manual, it only plays Region 1 DVD. But, since my DVD player wouldn't play my En Concert and Les Enfoires (2001, 09, 10 and 11) DVDs, and since my laptop, which I used to hooked up to my big screen tv to watch my Alizee DVDs, was broke, I tried playing them on the x-box anyways. To my surprised, it worked, except for LE 2001.

I bought all of them from Amazon.fr and verified that they're all Region 2 DVDs so I'm kind of confused as to why the others worked and the '01 wouldn't. I'm still happy though that it worked in the first place. I'm glad I tried LE '11 first. Had I tried playing the '01 first, I probably would have just assumed that it really wouldn't play Region 2 DVDs. I guess 4 out of 5 is not bad.

I could be wrong but i'm almost sure that En Concert is Region 0? i.e. it will play on DVD players worldwide.

It wouldn't play on my DVD player. My PS2 could read it but it was looking for a PAL or multi-system tv (I have an old-school big screen tv). I could only play it on my computer. Also, I had to buy the Mexican edition of EC (before I could figure out to hook up my laptop to my tv) so just I could watch it on my big screen tv.

When I got EC some years back I bought a region free DVD player that would also convert PAL to NTSC (which is the standard in the US). I use that player for all my European DVDs.

En Concert is Region 2 Pal if it looks like this





However the Taiwan version is the same exact DVD except Region 0 for All Regions and it looks like this:




I found out the hard way .... I also know that PS3 only plays Region 1 (and of course 0) .. I don't know about PS2 or XBOX 360 S ...

Try playing it on your PS3, you never know. It might play it just like my x-box even though the manual says it only plays Region 1 DVDs. I know PS2 would play it too, but just like I said, you need a PAL or multi-system tv as well.

The one on the right is the Mexican version. It's Region 1. It plays on any American DVD player. However, the audio on some songs, including JEAM, are not synched with the video - like a half-second delay.

I thought about that but I couldn't find a space for it on my entertainment rack so I just figured out a way to hook up my laptop to the tv.

If any of your guys' DVD players don't play LE or En Concert, try finding a region unlock code for your DVD player online. It usually shows a 4-digit code that you enter into your player and is real easy.
