The concept of banding together in groups to forward a common cause is engrained in our DNA. In millennium past, it was the hunting party....now it's football!!!!

Throw in the spiritual concept, and we can discuss the concept of banding together under a goddess....

Thanks for your thoughts :)
I'm afraid I could, so let's hope I never have a daughter. Naming her Alizée would be very silly, but just hearing or reading the name in another context drives me crazy.

I agree. I also have a name that most people couldn't spell/pronounce right. Although I still think Alizee is one of the most beautiful names I've ever heard, I think it's more for famous or well-known women and not for ordinary ones.

I would have no problem naming my daughter "Annily" though. It's beautiful, easy to pronounce and people wouldn't have that much trouble spelling it. But most important of all, it's still considered as a tribute to Alizee!

PS: Would you consider naming your son "Jeremy?"

Hmm...Jeremy, maybe. I guess when I think about my future children's names, I try to think about how it would sound with their surname. In this case, it would be Mui, and I don't think Jeremy Mui sounds good.

I've considered a variant of Annily for a daughter though. My boyfriend's mother's name has Ling in it, and I think Anna Ling sounds cute.

At least you didn't have a south Indian name.

North Indians also somehow manage to screw up the names even when there is only one way to write and pronounce a good short name.

Hehe, I understood a little bit

Jeremy - no way!

Funny you mention the pronunciation, in germany no one would have a problem with pronouncing the name Alizée right.

Hehe.. that's kind of a moot question.. don't you know it's the women who usually have the last say when it comes to these things.

I should probably add a disclaimer that I am not a Pittsburgh native, and this local cult of the Steelers is most puzzling to me, albeit entertaining to watch from an outside perspective.
Then back to Cleveland Ohio you go.

Seriously thought about naming my one female cat Alizée. I acquired her from the alley out back in November 2007. She is a small very cute white short hair that acts like a princess, a warrior princess that is, thus Xena is her name.

I wouldn't name my son Jeremy... not only because it was Alizée's husband's name, but also because it is was the name of the husband that my college sweetheart had a baby with... she ended up marrying him to. and he doesn't take good care of her.

The funny thing is my grandparents worked their asses off to get themselves OUT of Cleveland.

I second the not naming my son Jeremy motion. It is the name of one of my wife's ex-boyfriends, he was kind of a d*bag.

Also, the male does have two ways of determining the name for the child. The first (the method I am taking) involves years of subtle hints and suggestions. The second involves hoping she is passed out after childbirth when the birth certificate and any other paperwork needs signing.
