Nice job on the colorization. However, there is something to be said for black and white photos. Maybe it's how the brain processes the picture, but so much detail comes out when it's B&W.

My theory: when color is removed from an image, it forces the brain to pay more attention to "light" vs. "dark" in the image. This makes black and white images seem more "stark" than color images, as if black and white images have more dynamic range.

But its just an illusion. A color version of a black & white photo has the same dynamic range as the black & white photo.

My coloring of that picture is just fun for the fans, but it will never look as good as with natural colors.
I agree with you, I also like black and white pictures which can look better than if they are in color.
People often think that for a black and white photo it is enough just to remove the color, which is not true.
When you are working on a b/w photo, light and shadows are very important so that the image has depth and does not look "washed out".
Of course, that requires experience and being a bit of an artist, which I am not, but I like to try my hand at editing some photos.
