Alizee's bad performance - just a hoax?
Appearently, this version of the video shows that alizee did perform amazingly on the Star Academy peformance with Maureen. On what I used to hear, she was really bad, I'm not gonna lie. But tell me this is real! It sounds like it, could it have been really a hoax just to make maureen look better? I've never heard alizee sing that badly.
Here's the appearant "True Version" of the performance: Real or fake? |

That sounds like the album track superimposed on the performance to me.
That performance was a pretty hellish combination of recent inexperience in performing, poor sound equipment (there is a very good reason you can barely hear Alizée), and singing with choreography. Maureen's godawful voice doesn't help the song at all, either

I agree with Fish that on the link you posted it sounded like the studio recording. I just watched that one as well as a full version of the song, and in the full version you can actually hear Maureen's, and I agree, godawful voice. In the one you posted you can't, so I can only assume the full version is more "real" than not. And yes, Alizée's voice isn't going to sound the same as the recording due to many factors.

its real, its Maureen's horrible voice messing up the whole song like everyone else said. You are just hearing Maureen over Alizees sweet beautiful voice, that's why it sounds bad. I have the whole video for you guys here, and you could even tell from the start Maureen just doesn't have a good voice

Also, Alizée sings best with good sound and/or backup support. In studio she has great sound support. In concert she had great backup singers and good sound support. The ability to hit those sweet notes is much easier when the music and accompanying singers are hitting the notes. When you grow up in an environment of "key and pitch support", you get in the habit of locking on to the "key and pitch" you hear.
It takes a hulluva lot of practice (and perhaps a fair amount of aptitude) to be able to DRIVE your own key and pitch. I don't think Alizée is there yet.

as an expert on the church organ, piano, clarinet, and a student of the guitar, flute, and singing, i say those who play instruments have an unfair advantage over singers: they get to tune their notes ahead of time we singers cannot, we have to imagine the notes ahead of time and move those vocal cords very accurately
