Default I used to watch a lot of NFL Football

I used to watch a Lot of NFL Football ! ( You know you are a football fanatic; when you watch games where your team is not even playing ! ) But I realized I was kinda wasting a lot of time out of my life when I could just watch the Highlights and get the best plays of every team ! This is the "Conspiracy" video of the "Immaculate Reception"; a play which many people said should have been called "dead" or had a Penalty, so it should not have counted !
Oakland Raiders versus the Pittsburgh Steelers; two tough teams ! The situation; there is only about 15 seconds on the Clock and the Raiders are ahead ! But a Great Quarterback like Terry Bradshaw of the Steelers can always kill you ! The ball is thrown over the center to get closer to the goal and possibly to break "Frenchy" Fuqua loose to score a touchdown ! However the Defender is Jack Tatum ( otherwise known as the 'Assassin' ) who liked to hit people hard and he knocks Fuqua to the turf and the ball is knocked into the air. This is where the Conspiracy starts as an 'incomplete' pass should end the play.

Default More Info on the Immaculate Reception

The Raiders were ahead 7-6 ( which is a low scoring game ! )
There were only 22 seconds on the clock ! The Steelers were down to only 1 or 2 plays ! They would try to get within field goal range; down the ball fast and call out the Field Goal Kicker to win the game 9 -7 ! Bradshaw went back to Pass ! But Jack Tatum ( otherwise known as the Assassin ) Hit frenchy Fuqua just as the ball got there; so an incomplete pass ! But Tatum hit too hard and the ball popped like 20 yards somehow into the hands of Franco Harris who scooped it up and ran into the end zone. so the Steelers ended up winning the game 13-7; but the Raiders always contended it was a messed up play and shouldn't have counted !

I'm a big football fan too. In this area, we were blessed for so many years with the success of the Patriots. Evne though they've fallen on hard times, I still enjoy football. The KC against Philly game was a great game on Monday night. I usually only watch the teams I think are legitimate contenders.

I remember that Pittsburgh vs Oakland game. I can see the reason for controversy. I've also seen in a couple of Patriot Superbowl losses, penalties that got missed which if had been called, probably would have led to a Pat's win, but there are a lot of penalties that get missed during a game. It's not an easy job. Then there are some bad refs too. They try to send the best to the playoffs, but they're all human.

I do remember Tatum. His hit paralyzed the Pat's wide receiver Stingley. I've hated him ever since.

It's amazing he didn't get injured. That was a huge shot and protective equipment was not great in 1972.

I've been a lifetime football fan but over the last 10 years I prefer college football over the NFL. There is more unpredictability and big play potential. I live in Buckeye country and have been to OSU home games. There are a lot of school traditions that occur before and after the games, as well as during the halftime show. It's an experience that you don't have at NFL games, and I have attended some of those as well.

Football can also completely consume a weekend, so I have to be careful. College football is scheduled all day on Saturday and I could be watching it still at midnight if I wanted to (Pac-12 games). NFL all day on Sunday, plus Monday and Thursday nights. I'm usually pretty busy on Sunday, so I can't follow it like I used to.

Yes Tatum had paralyzed Stingley with a helmet hit on his spine; just when Stingley was catching the ball on a pass. I think they had some rule changes that you can't hit a guy like that with your helmet since. After Tatum died; they asked Steve Grogan, a Patriots Quarterback, if he had anything good to say about Tatum; But Grogan said I can't think of anything good to say about him. He always seemed to make dirty hits !

Edit:

Yes Tatum didn't seem to try to intercept the Ball and/or tackle Fuqua ! It's more like he wanted to hit Fuqua as hard as he could ? In another video from a different angle; the ball actually seems to hit Tatum in the chest; so he could have intercepted it ! As Bradshaw said; the ball couldn't have bounced 20 yards off of Fuqua's hands, but it could have bounced 20 yards off of Tatum's chest ! So, instead of playing for the ball and intercepting it, Tatum went for the hit and ended up causing Oakland to lose the game !
