What kind of thing, Twitter? Why not? It's great social networking and MF would have a LOT of followers REAL fast.

Alizée only follows 14 people on Twitter. I don't think the fact that Mylène isn't one of them yet means very much at all.

Yeah, the person said that about the interview on France Bleu recently. I don't think anybody treats their Twitter or anything else that seriously lol

What big Dan is saying is that Mylene is not likely to do that, she has no Myspace, Facebook, Twitter or any other official page, she has no need for it. She simply relies on her pure talent to attract her fans, and so far that's all she's needed ;-)

If she does have an account anywhere it's a private one. That Tweeter page is a fan made page, as it clearly indicates on the very first post which reads in part: Hello to all and all. I have created this tweeter on Mylene because the others are not active...

As far as all the negative talk of them, it's all fan made as well. There is no current dispute among them, the only disagreement that anyone can point out is their professional separation, which might of ended in mutual agreement as well.

Thanks for making that clear, Jess. As I do not understand French, I could not understand the tweets on that profile and was unsure whether its a fake Mylene profile or real.

Twitter now has a mechanism ("Verified Accounts") for authenticating the identity of an account holder. But it is still only deployed in a limited way - for SOME famous and other celebrated people. One cannot yet pay to be certified in this way on demand. (Here is one well-known example of a Verified Account: http://twitter.com/BARACKOBAMA )

If you want to create a Twitter account and tie it to your identity, I suggest you use other online systems already in place.

For example, a US resident can create a corporation in his federal state. The Web site of the Secretary of State there will almost always provide a method to interrogate a registry of its legally recognized corporations via the state's Web site. By naming yourself as the registered agent of the corporation and providing a mailing address, you will do a lot to verify who you are, especially if your name is unusual. There is a decent chance that the registry entry will also let you point at something like a Twitter account you affirm is yours.

In theory, one can alternately use Internet subdomain registration, instead of a traditional corporate registration, in the same way. But be aware that such registrars often are not as meticulous in verifying identity as is a Secretary of State registering a corporation. (Does anyone opine a certain registrar does a superior job?) For example, you might register a subdomain like "alizeeamerica.com," and then any Internet user can interrogate a global registry (like that provided by "Network Solutions") to determine the contact information (i.e. persons or corporations) with which it is associated. If they accept those as given, and believe in your competence to run a secure Web site, they can deduce any Web information published within that subdomain appears with your leave - responsible or negligent. This can include a pointer to a Twitter account or any other online facility, by which you can assert that you have control of same.

Many years ago, I understand that US federal legislation enabled broader legally potent use of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public-key_cryptography">public key encryption</a>, for the purpose of promoting a system of reliable <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_signature">digital signatures</a>. It baffles me why the US Postal Service (which I read is aching for money these days) does not establish a "key server" for which you can verify your identity and provide a "public key" which anyone can access all the time to verify that the digital documents your publish are yours, wherever they appear or are copied.
