The Star Trek Appreciation Thread
It's obvious that a lot of us are Star Trek fans, and it's been mentioned more and more often as of late. I've decided that we've earned ourselves this thread. Shall we start by introducing ourselves?
Lt. Commander Espire Favorite Series: TNG, ENT Favorite Movie: First Contact Favorite Characters: T'Pol, Phlox Favorite Enterprise: NX-01 (Feel free to add other parameters to the list) As you can see, I do happen to like Enterprise, unlike most people. I'm quite sure that this is because every generation of Star Trek gets more and more realistic, looking more like something that could actually be in our future. An excellent example is the jumpsuits; I know that Enterprise is hundreds of years prior to the others, but I really can't see humanity wearing anything like the later uniforms for at least a millennium. Many of the different things that are more believable in Enterprise were simply because the series is newer, so I'm excited to see what we'll get in the next series. The caught-up technology, combined with the potential of good writing, would be incredible. Regardless, Phlox and T'Pol are awesome characters!

Capt. Frank Hollister (Red Dwarf fans should recognize the name)
Favorite Series (in order): DS9, TNG, ENT/TOS*, VGR Favorite Movie: Undiscovered Country, First Contact Favorite Characters: Garak (but almost all of DS9's cast of regulars and recurring actors), Picard, Kirk, Spock Favorite Enterprise: NCC-1701 (no bloody A, B, C, or D... or E ), NX-01 I was raised on Star Trek due to my father. I was watching when I was 5 years old. In the 1st grade I watched TNG premier live. For people that have known me as I grew up, for me to say that my interest in Alizée is on par with or surpassed my interest in Star Trek is regarded with ample suspicion, confusion, and disbelief. *I like Enterprise more than it deserves. Most of the series' was wasted in writing not worthy of the potential offered by it's place in Star Trek "history." The last season finally started telling the stories it should have from day 1. It could have been the greatest series fo them all but suffered from burnt-out leadership.

The closest thing is: "Filming was also completed in 2006 for an unofficial mini-series, Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, which contains many cast members from the TV series and movies; it will be released free of charge on the internet in stages, starting on December 22, 2007.[39]" - From Wikipedia My Fav. character is Garrack, love mysterious spy like characters who crosses both evil and good. Fav. Series is DS9...Although the last episode was real anticlimactic...such a great buildup for a short ending. |

River Tam
Starships: Firefly and Serenity Smuggled onto the ship by her brother, River is a child prodigy of unparalleled genius, but she was experimented upon at the hands of Alliance doctors, leaving her delusional, erratic, and at times violent. River is constantly at war with her own demons. She sees and hears things that others do not, and experiences waking dreams of her memories of the Alliance "academy" experiments. Opinions of her vary among the crew: some value her, Jayne Cobb fears her, and the rest just want her to stay out of trouble. In other words, she is one BMF. |
