[2014-10-15]TV-The Cover D8TV
With no notice to fans, Alizée appeared this evening on a TV show, performing (In English) a cover of the song Cups (When I'm Gone).
The were some noises earlier in the day that she would participate on the show, but nothing seemed certain. The show in general doesn't seem to have been very impressive to the Twitter world. A few French fans have managed to capture the program and have shared it with the world. (Not in the best quality this time, at least not yet.) Thanks Ray. She looked awesome. Thinking about the words of the song was kind of depressing. I hope It's not one of those ironies of life.
The photos posted here didn't do her justice. She did look great. Last edited by Scruffydog777; 10-15-2014 at 08:39 PM.. |

Well it's just a song, I don't believe she would do that to us but then again who knows what's going on in her mind........ she's not going anywhere.

I don't really understand why they picked that song - I have never heard of it before, it's from a movie - but she's not at her best to be honest. It's cute - well we all know she's not great in English - but sometimes her singing is just totally out of tune. She was trending on Twitter... why? Because people were talking bad about her performance...
Also what is she wearing??

I don't really care about the songs sung in English by her, but as always, there is a lot of criticism:

As far as what she was wearing, it seemed to fit in with the casual way the kids were dressed. One thing I questioned was whether the shirt half tucked in was a "look" or a faux pas.
The song wasn't a great fit for her voice, but I thought she did okay. Here's what Wikipedia said about the song "Cups". Origin[edit] The original song "When I'm Gone" was written by A.P. Carter, then recorded in 1931 by the Carter Family (not to be confused with their 1928 song "Will You Miss Me When I’m Gone?")[3] and was originally a bluegrass tune. Over the years it has been recorded by many people including Mainer's Mountineers and Charlie Monroe. It can also be heard in the film Dan in Real Life. Lulu and the Lampshades version[edit] Lulu and the Lampshades' video went viral after a Reddit posting, prompting dozens of other budding musicians to record cover versions of the song using the Cup Clap technique. It was soon dubbed ‘The Cup Song.” The criticism in those links Jacotey did sound pretty harsh. I've said in the past that one of the most important things she lost when she left MF/LB was their management skills. Who made the decision for her to sing this song? Most likely her. Then again, after the failure of Blonde and the cancellation of the Tour, maybe she needs things like this, good or bad, to keep her in the public eye until something better (singing wise) comes along. It might be better to be talked about badly than to be not talked about at all. Last edited by Scruffydog777; 10-16-2014 at 12:23 PM.. |

I agree with Jenny on her singing in this case. She sounds like she is out of practice. Unfortunately, she often sounds this way when she sings live. Not to sound like a broken record, but I just don't think she practices her singing everyday as a professional singer should. We know she can, and has done better. But that was when she had a practice regimen imposed upon her by Mylene.
I noticed that one of the first things that Scruffy said about it was that she looked awesome. It got me to thinking that it really says something when our first comments about an Alizée performance are about her looks rather than her singing. The song wasn't the best choice for her either. With the right song and some serious practice effort, I think she could sound much better.
