Your desktop? Okay, I'm guessing that you didn't use iTunes, and if you did, you did it wrong.

If the songs were saved in iTunes, they should still be within the program (and definitely within the library files).

If you ever did something like plug in your ipod to someone else's computer (which you're not supposed to do anyway) then their library would have replaced whatever was on your ipod... but it could work the other way around too.

FRA, that sucks, and I know how you feel.

That's happened to be a couple times before, and needless to say, the music on my ipod hasn't been the same since!
I mean, I do remember my favorites, so I go and download them again, and I obvioulsy have all of Alizée's songs on CD, so I don't have to worry about that.

BUT! I did have some luck finding the download files somewhere on my desktop, so maybe you can find some too!

Nothing much I can do to help except empathize. I've been through a similar situation, except my dad's desktop crashed & the memory was completely wiped. Lost soooo much music. But then I embarked on a mission to obtain every piece that I lost & gained soooo much more. Quite the journey. I regained my collection & expanded it further.

Doubt that helps any, but hey! Maybe it'll give hope, haha. x]

*EPIC NARRATOR VOICE* Prepare yourself, for the journey of a lifetime! What you will face my shock you, inspire you, awe you, and most importantly, humble you. For this is no mere journey. This is a journey to search for the Holy Grail of Music. That which holds those you treasure along with infinite others. So pick up your headphones! Configure your mp3 player! And set foot out...INTO THE NEW WORLD! (See what I did there?)

Sorry, don't know anything about itunes! Never actually had an ipod, just other brand mp3's. Alizée may convert me though. Well, once I get the money!

I actually found a lot of new music that way. Lots of stuff that I won't usually listen/find. Examples being Simple Plan, Yellowcard, Rascall Flats, and Hinder. It's a good journey to take.
