No she could not have done it without Mylene. How would she promote herself. I said before she had no desire to become a singer, she just sent in a vid on the whims of friends & family & what do you know.... she got picked.

That's why I found the original question kind of strange ,since she "owe" a lot to Mylene, talking about her career. Not only in Mexico.

Mylene has nothing to do with Alizee's success in specific countries, but instead her success in general. What I mean is Mylene has everything to do with Alizee being successful as a whole but nothing to do with her being successful in Mexico (to be specific).
Let me paint a picture so what I'm saying is more clear. Say for instance it is me that got chosen by Mylene & I become a huge success, selling millions of records in many countries. One country I'm a complete failure... Mexico for instance. Just because Mexico does or does not support me does not mean I'm unsuccessful it just means I'm not so hot over there. So even if Alizee was not popular in Mexico she is still a successful artist in many other countries & it is due to Mylene for starting her.

I agree completely. I think it's very likely Alizée would have met with much success in the music industry without MF, but I doubt it would have happened as quickly and with such great success that it has without Mylene Farmer and lets not forget Laurent Boutannat. These three blended so well together. You can put the greatest singer together with the greatest song writer and the greatest musician and that by no means would gaurantee success but these three were a perfect fit for each other. Just like we have a rare alignment of certain stars in the sky, Alizée, MF and LB were a rare alignment of stars on earth that worked so amazingly well together. They are all equally responsible for her success in France, Mexico or any of the other countries she performed in. I think she would have had great success in this country too, if the industry in this country had been willing to play her music. What a great opportunity was lost. Mexico came on late and came on strong, but people in France and other places really loved Alizée for a while. Yes, it's a shame we didn't have that opportunity over here, for a while at least. Yes, the greatest trio ever in the ways that made us all feel it.

Well, no one can deny the role of her past in her successes at newer places. Although we say that she has came out of that Lolita image, but still it's that image only from where everything starts. I don't think there are many people who noticed her newer works first and then became a fan. I wonder what the situation would have been if UEdS was her first album. Mylene and Laurent created the first and formidable steps for her future in a short time. Whenever she goes higher, it would be those steps only for the start. This would continue for some more time, I guess, until she comes up with something which can create new fans for her because of new work only and this would take time.

I think the success in Mexico was due to her good looks...I mean we all think she is the hottest girl in the world, but I mean, man the people in Mexico just go crazy over her amazing looks

To some degree, yes. I mean, no matter how hard she tries, they always bring it back to her Mylene days. Basically every interview I've seen so far since the release of UEdS, they've mentioned "lolita" and "Mylene Farmer".
But that's like saying that an actor's success is based just on the script. No matter how well the writer writes, it's up to the actor to perform it accordingly.
