The reason she shops in Paris over Ajaccio is the that everything has to be imported to the Island. The cost of something like cloths or shoes would be 30% higher on the Island of Corsica over buying it in a mall in Paris.
I read in a travel blog on Corsica that made the point unless it is something unique to Corsica wait until you get back to the mainland to make the purchase.
