Well I tend to focus on the good of each piece of music, rather than the bad.

It's an effective method where you can just enjoy anything you listen to.

(disclaimer: the method above does not work with horrible rap and emo songs)

Why does everyone hate rap?
It's going downhill now but back in the 90's real rap was at it's highest.

Well duh, 90s rap had meaning, but cmon, the next time I hear Soulja Boy open his mouth is a gunshot through the radio.

Amen to that.

The moment Alizée sang that song way back when she defined and owned it. You won't get anything better. It is still listed 3rd on a Yahoo search, right under a Madonna video of it, though.

I'm with espire's original comment (I can't get used to the blockiness of the new vocal timing).

BTW is this a new recording, or is it a remix using the original vocal track from the Madonna tribute?

I would think that if she got into the studio for the "La nanana nanana nanana," there wouldn't have been a real reason not to do the rest.

A more significant reason is that Universal owns her previous recording.

Do they? I guess I don't really know how the contracts tend to be worded; if you're under contract to a record company, do they try to get ownership of all your performances in all venues?

Also, it seemed like there was some applause noise embedded in the remix; I haven't attempted to correlate it with the broadcast performance.

Oh my god! How can you say that? Obviously her voice has changed. The way she sings it has changed. You can change the different channels of a song - like the music or the vocals - if you have those separated out or you can play around a little bit changing timing and drowning out sounds at certain levels, but you can't fundamentally change how a person sings with "remixing".
Are you actually hearing this thing from the same room it's playing in? I'm sorry, but listen again man!

Oh I see, you're wondering if the whole thing is new or only part of her singing? Yeah, what's the point. She can sing. Why not do the whole thing? And besides, my first comments still stand.
