"Acoustic" is an English word. In French the word is "acoustique," so "acoustic" would be recognizable but not identical. Since the audience for the show does not mostly consist of native English speakers, all of the connotations of the word in English would not carry over to the audience except the minority of it that is very familiar with English (or native speakers of English). It may be that "musique acoustique" would not immediately occur to the minds of francophones from this word, and that they would not assume it was supposed to mean music using traditional, non-electronically-amplified instruments. It may even be that this phrase is not common in French, although I don't know that. There is a phrase "guitare acoustique," so for at least one instrument the same meaning carries. There is also an expression "chanter en acoustique," which means to sing without a microphone, and that is not carried into English, i.e. we don't speak of "acoustic singing" with that meaning.

So perhaps for a French audience that connotation isn't there, and we are just seeing it automatically because that word "acoustic" is in our language and for us carries that connotation.

Does anyone have subtitles or a translation for the whole program? Because I'm watching it and feel like I'm missing out on a good interview....Thanks!

Can't view this video now to check whether it's subtitled or not. I believe it should be.

The video section here is awesome. The idea of loosing the subtitles like this makes me sick. I've got all the videos downloaded, is there anyway to get the subtitiles?
