Question Background singers in VVV?

Okay so I've waited a while to post this just to make sure I'm not going crazy.

So on my new speakers I got I can hear what seems to be 2 singers behind Alizee's voice shouting the chorus to Veni Vedi Vici. For some reason I couldn't hear it on my headphones though.

Can anyone else hear it? I hope I'm not the only one. Sorry it's just I never noticed it before so I think it's strange.

Thanks

After too much time around tanks, helicopters and airplanes, my hearing isn't quite what it used to me, but I thought it sounded more like an echo affect of Alizée's own voice.

Hmm...thats what I thought for a bit too. But then I noticed there were 2 seperate voices behind Alizee's and when I come to think of it they sounded like the background singers' voices at En Concert...

Don’t really know VVV (don’t own that album... I know... I know...) and I am listening to a YouTube video on an extra crappy headphones set right now. I can clearly hear voices behind Alizée’s. I don’t think it is a simple echo of Alizée’s voice because they are a bit higher, I find. Maybe it is echoed, but adjusted in some way. Also, it if you listen carefully, it seems Alizée’s voice is absent, or almost inaudible, when some words are sung. For example, listen to the part that says “son nid, douillet”.

It sounds, at least to me, like they just made an extra reverb track or two and changed the pitch on them to sound like there's more than just her

Like what they did in Limelight

Sure, that is what I meant by “adjusted in some way”. But if they did just add a reverb track or two and changed the pitch, it is still strange that they would have buried Alizée’s “original” voice track in certain parts. For example listen to the “son nid, douillet” part from 1:22 to 1:24, here:

<iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CRYgUUg7QjA" frameborder="0" allowFullScreen></iframe>

Again, I am in crappy sound quality mode here, but I really think Alizée’s voice is absent at times. Whether it is Alizée singing the whole song on her own (with sound manipulations) or the fact that she is not singing certain parts while backing vocalist(s) keep going, I don’t know, but I suspect the latter makes more sense... And I really wouldn’t be surprised to be proven wrong...

Yeah I can hear her voice being more muddled, but I don't think that they're necessarily burying her vocal track purposely

I'm not a sound engineer or a good board op by any means, so I can't really say what it could be

The lead track sounds like is almost 'gone' in that "veni vedi vici" right after the 1:22 “son nid, douillet”, though I think she's just in pitch with the backing vocals, which probably is sung by herself. I don't think it's buried, it's just that she sing some parts weaker and kinda whispering, trying to sing her darker lead vocals in the same tone as the higher pitched backing vocals. Or something like that.

Maybe it's Mylene singing with her. Alizee said that Mylene was a background singer on some songs.

I think Tiwaz is on the right track. There is delay and reverb on Alizée's voice and it sounds like she doubled it in the chorus. Also, her voice changes somewhat when she goes higher, which is to be expected as she is in her mid voice or even a bit of falsetto. The doubling and delay create a chorusing effect which stands out more on those notes. I listened to the CD with a good pair of headphones.
