About the Michael Jackson thing -- my take on it is that the linked video is more important than the words. There was no disrespect at all; she was saluting a fellow artist.

1) The video itself was a very fine production, Jackson at his most theatrical.
2) Its theme of bygone days, the magical powers of the Jackson character like a ghost from the past, all touch on the fact that he's gone.
3) The character portrayed, naughty and mischievous in his illicit seduction of the queen and his grinning escape from Pharaoh's wrath, is also pure Jackson.

There may have been other subtle messages in the choice of this video as well. But if so, I shall let them sleep.

Farewell, Michael J. Can't say I was ever really a fan of yours, but you certainly made a difference and you remain a legend.

There's no doubt in my mind that Alizée intended no disrespect and I didn't take it that way at all. It didn't even dawn on me to even consider her response as anything other than sincere. I guess it's all in how you imagine "tone of voice" which is hard to relate to somebody when typing.

I believe she was simply saying good bye to a world recognized artist.

(Just a thought - Perhaps she originally was just going to list the video, but then decided she had to say somenting so she made it simple and to the point.)

Well look at everything she posts. Simple and to the point. She is used to simply making a statement, with a diplomatic bent, as it were, as well. Kind of the opposite of me, but I'm learning. That is to say, Alizée usually (or perhaps always) does not "overstate" herself.

i mean.. english isn't her first lanague, sorta like me with spanish (in which case i would say "adios MJ" or.. like "hasta luego MJ".. and maybe to fluent spanish speakers it could come off as a bit rude, but eh, wasn't intended that way.

Since her english is poor at best, i think she just wanted to say something quick and simple, so 'bye' was the only english word she decided to use. No biggie.
