RIP Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse was found dead at her London flat today. Cause of death is still undetermined. She just left rehab for her concert tour. She had been battling drug addiction for years. She was just 27 years old - about the same age as Alizee.

I used to listen to a couple of her songs before I discovered Alizee. She definitely had a more successful career than Alizee. She sold more albums and won five Grammy awards. But, in a hindsight, I think this is what the price she had to pay for all those successes - just like Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan and many others who can't handle the pressure of fame.

I am really very happy Alizee made the right decision. She put her family first ahead of her career. If getting tattoos and piercings were the worst things she did, then I'm all happy for her. I am also glad she took the necessary time off to get away from the limelight to raise a family. I know it sucks for her million of fans who had to wait for years to see and hear from her again. But, I'd rather wait for months or even years than not seeing/listening to her ever again.

It didn't surprise me too. I know some of these celebrities are like ticking time bomb. It's not a matter of if but when. I'm just glad they all don't end up dead.

Yeah, I told my dad and he said "Well, I sure didn't see that coming!"

Won't we all feel like jerks if it turns out that she died of something completely unrelated to drugs?

This just in: upon further investigation we've now discovered the true cause of Ms. Winehouse's untimely death. According to eye witness testimony, Ms. Winehouse was walking along the street minding her own business when suddenly a school bus full of orphaned children with disabilities came careening down the road due to brake failure. Seeing the bus, and the group of small girls crossing further down the street, Ms. Winehouse sprung into a sprint and scooped up the girls and carried them safely out of harm's way. Then, in an act of quick thinking, Ms. Winehouse grabbed the winch on the nearby tow truck and threw it at the bus, catching its bumper and stopping it in the nick of time. After catching the dog, Ms. Winehouse spontaneously suffered both a brain anneurism and a heart attack simultaneously. Funeral services will be held this Tuesday, and we all mourn the loss of Ms. Winehouse and her heroic sacrifice.

kudos if you catch the reference, and wimminz I fully expect you to seeing as how we are of similar age and are therefore statistically more likely to recognize my allusion than those outside our +/- 3 year age group.

Did you guys noticed that she joined the "27 crew"?

Some names: Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix............
