Alizée: Off the Top 100!
Yes that's right, her single isn't even on the top 100 list anymore.. I doubt this was a success even worth of comparing to her other albums.. boo hooo... we should all pray.

Folks, think long range planning. Marketing, in this instance, isn't about a "flash in the pan"...top of the chart and then gone. Think marathon, not 100 yard (meters) dash. We are in the early stages of a build up...the laying of a foundation. Don't get too wound up in chart position....it's early in the race. It's not where you are early in the race that matters. It only matters where you finish. I can't say Alizée will finish first...or even in the top runners....but I can say that it's way too early to be worried about it.
Video release. Album release. Personal appearance(s). Each/All can be catalysts to vault one or several of the songs to the top. There may be some sleeper hits on that album no one knows about. Let it play out. Enjoy the music. Enjoy the ride.

I'm with OGRE on this one. The visibility isn't there yet, and if they spent all their marketing resources up front, they would probably run out. It's not like ML, there's not a whole lot of buzz-generating scandal. The most that was there was the Alizee/Mylene thing, and that wasn't that much. I'm a bit surprised they launched with no video, but hopefully the buzz will pick up then.
And besides, look at Britney; topping the charts, but her personal and professional lives are imploding. Actually, how did she do that, anyway? I'm a bit surprised Gimme More is doing so well frankly. Sad to say, maybe it really is scandal-driven. |
