I've seen this picture before and wondered what kind of cell phone is Alizee using and what is in her left hand? This picture looks to be taken around 2003, maybe 2002. She looks to be talking on a flip phone, but the pink device she is holding is a mystery to me. Nokia made phones about that size, but why would she have two phones? Maybe a Blackberry or handheld game?

You're probably right. A very common practice for famous people.
Alizee was lucky because at the beginning of her career she was surrounded by very experienced people who certainly prepared her for what was to come and protected her very well.
