forum downtime

there will be a little bit of downtime in the next day or so. i have been putting off moving the website to the new server for months now. the current server will go offline on the 24th, so I have to get it moved before then.

the website itself will not be down at all, but there will be a period of time where the forums will be closed so we can be sure to keep the database synchronized. some people will not even notice it, others might have up to 24 hours that they can't post.

for most people it will be around 2 - 4 hours while the DNS updates. i am going to try to do this tomorrow if I have time, but definitely before the 24th.

so with this new server will new/different videos be uploaded to this site

Brad, why don't you keep the site running on both server for a couple of day? That way there will be zero downtime.

no ..its going to be the same website and everything. it is a different company, they offer more bandwidth and a better server overall for quite a bit cheaper than I pay now.

that's exactly what i am doing, but if i don't lock the forums while the DNS resolves to the new server, some posts will be on the old server, and some will be on the new server. depending on where you are at, it will take longer for the DNS to resolve properly.

i have actually been paying for both servers for the past few months, but I have been so busy I haven't had time to move it over.

most of you won't even notice it happened, some might have a few hours they can't post.

I'm capable of multitasking... It does not help in the not writing problem.

I play En Concert all the time and still be able to type on all the forums !

kdn it relates more to halo and the master chief but i also like the ancient spartans also if i was a super heroe i would be called the spartan lol but thats something different lol
