I think Mylene was aiming at a variety of her fans. Some appealed to the teen males, some to the older fans, and some to the younger ones. Keep in mind that some of her fans were much younger than her. If Mylene was smart (and she obviously is) she would try to appeal to the broad spectrum of her fans in her costuming choices. I believe this was her intention.

Well, that mistake shocked me and I don't need to make more of it, but I also said that, I know, mistakes happen. Oh well. I'm frankly more concerned about you than about the issue concerning Alizée. As the French might say, bref.

But I stand by my suggestion that these overblown ideas of Mylène trying to send devious messages are kind of crazy (and I'm probably thinking more of other posts than this one). Obviously I don't know Mylène even as well as I could, but having a basic sense of the world tells me that she was simply trying to create a product that was appealing to the masses and to the youth in France and she did a fabulous job with that. I think she had plenty to think about without sending fans (or others) hidden messages and I do assume that she wanted to squeeze everything she could get out of the Alizée phenomenon, make use of it while it lasts. As to who chose what dress, I have also found that to be an intreguing question, but (without reading Mylène interviews) I have no clues. I'm pretty sure that it was Alizée who chose her later garb, such as the dress/pant/tie ensemble for À Contre-Courant. Alizée was so pretty and so cute that she looks great in that dress and everything else in that concert (and the dress is cute) even if the outfits of the women behind her (BigDan post) are more seducing and one might think that Alizée would be a real knock-out in that. Obviously she did wear some really sexy stuff in that concert. The one dress I find just too weird was the poofy one with little pink (candies?) on it.

You have to consider one other thing people. Those concerts were much more full of 11 year old girls than 30 year old guys. Think about it. And who but this magificent trio could pull off making of an adolescent girl a big star adored by as disperse a group as just mentioned? Ok, maybe they weren't as successful as all that, but I stood behind 15 year old girls in line to see Alizée in Mexico and yes I do feel kind of weird about that, but it was such a great experience that it worked and was just fun. Who else has experiences like that? Who else inspires the happenstance of such experiences?

D**n it! Rev beat me to it. :P

I really can't see Mylene picking that atrocious outfit she wore while performing L'important c'est d'aimer. I think Roman is very correct about Alizee picking her own outfits towards the end of her gig with MF/LB. When she started hanging around Jeremy and Jenifer, it seems she became very influenced by them and started dressing very rocker-ish. To be honest, I don't think Alizee has a very good sense of style, she needs a stylist.

has anyone considered it was for convenience? i mean, how many costume changes did she make in this concert? maybe she wanted something she can slip on and off in seconds. same with the boots, kick them off, change, put them back on, run back on stage. makes better sense than the pregnant story.

When I first saw Alizee in that blue and white dress a little around 4 years ago, it was long before I found out she was married or had a baby and when I first saw it, I thought the blue and white dress looked exactly like a maternity dress. Now when I started this thread, I screwed up big time because I thought Annily had been born the year before and I apologise for that stupid mistake. But if someone else who knew the correct dates had presented an idea that they thought MF had her wear such a dress to try and get a warning through her head that if she wasn't careful, she might really need to wear one is certainly kind of far fetched, and the possibilities of that being the case are dam low, how ever someone should be able to present an idea without being insulted.

Now no one here is trying to say Mylene Farmer is satan, but for someone to suggest that her and LB tried to control Alizee's mind, or something along similar lines, again may seem far fetched, but it certainly isn't beyond the realm of possibility. Look at what we know they did with Alizee. They gave her a book about a Lolita to read at the age of 15, wearing a controversial dress and singing controversial lyrics at the age of 15. There are many households in this country where if they had tried to do the same thing with someone's 15 year old dauthter, they would have found themselves looking down the wrong end of a shotgun.

So I think that MF and LB's morals are somewhat suspect making it much more possible that they might have been capable of trying to control Alizee, rather educate her of different ways her career could go. It may again be far fetched and not likely, but still someone should not be insulted for presenting such an idea. Just because this thread doesn't have the MDO label on it, doesn't mean it's okay to say things of an immature nature.

May I say that what you called " a book about a lolita" is seen as a masterpiece of modern literature, and put by french newspaper "Le Monde" in his "100 books of the century " list.

Does the fact that it's a masterpiece make it okay to give to a 15 year old girl to read? I don't think you mean to say that but it does kind of imply that and if it was okay to give to Allizee, should we just maybe give this book to every young girl when they turn 15 and how young a girl would Mylene have given this book to? I'm sure she would have given it to a 14 year old, but the book was about a 12 year old girl. Would she have gone that far?

My feelings are that the only reason to not give this masterpiece to a 15yo girl is that this book is pretty arduous. They often compare Nobokov to Proust.
The style is beautifull but with plenty of inventive vocabulary, and i'm almost sure that the main danger for a 15yo reader is just to be bored and to stop the reading. I could bet that Alizée didn't finish it.

There si no graphic description of any kind and it's much more "dangerous" to read, if it is, for a middle age man than a teen girl.

Mylène talk to Alizée about the character, and give her the book just to be honest with her. This way, she will in the know of what media were meaning when they talk about " lolitas ". Let me remind you that it would have been much more easy for Mylène to hide all the concept to her young singer...
( see the Gainsbourg-Gall collaboration).

Btw, Alizée is not an orphan. She got a mum and a dad and they decide that the concept was ok.
( they have to, since she was under 18 )
